Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Z-Morh Tunnel on January 13, 2025, near Gagangeer Sonamarg. The tunnel will enhance connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and Ladakh, reduce travel time, and make Sonamarg a year-round tourist destination, even during harsh winters. It is expected to boost the region's economy and provide continuous access to Sonamarg, Baltal, and Ladakh.

Commissioner of Railway Safety, Dinesh Chand Deshwal, arrived in Banihal from Katra for a two-day visit to conduct a final safety inspection of the Katra-Reasi-Banihal section of the Kashmir Rail Project. Deshwal stated that the inspection would be completed by the end of the day, after which the data provided by the railway authorities would be analyzed. He mentioned that the Government of India would decide the date for the commissioning of the rail service between Katra and Srinagar.
