Mughal Road serves as a vital alternative route connecting Kashmir with other states of India, yet its condition remains severely neglected. Particularly concerning is the stretch from Heirpora to Peer Ki Gali, where basic amenities and infrastructure are woefully inadequate.

Civil Society Shopian has filed a complaint with the National Highway Authority of India regarding this issue. Additionally, an awareness program will be conducted in collaboration with the Traders Federation and Senior Citizens Forum on July 5th at the district headquarters in Shopian."

Firstly, the road suffers from a glaring lack of network connectivity, posing significant challenges for communication and emergency services. This deficiency not only inconveniences travelers but also compromises safety and response times in case of accidents or emergencies.

Moreover, the absence of essential facilities like washrooms and passenger sheds further exacerbates the hardships faced by commuters. Travelers, including locals and tourists, are left without basic conveniences along this crucial transit route.

The administration's apparent indifference to these issues is deeply concerning. Despite Mughal Road's strategic importance in enhancing regional connectivity and economic opportunities, the failure to address these fundamental needs reflects a broader neglect of infrastructure development in the region.

Immediate action is imperative to rectify these deficiencies. Provision of reliable network coverage, construction of adequate restrooms, and establishment of passenger shelters are critical steps towards improving the road's usability and ensuring the safety and comfort of all travelers.

In conclusion, addressing these shortcomings on Mughal Road is not just a matter of convenience but a necessity for enhancing regional integration and ensuring equitable development across the area.

The BJP party observed a 'black day' commemoration at Clock Tower Shopian, led by district president Mohd Yousef Baht. This event marked the imposition of the Emergency by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 25 June 1975, a period remembered for severe curtailment of civil liberties. During this time, journalists critical of the government were detained, and several political leaders who voiced opposition found themselves imprisoned. Baht emphasized the significance of recalling this period, highlighting the suppression of dissent and the infringement upon democratic freedoms. Such commemorations serve to remind the public of the importance of safeguarding constitutional rights and freedoms, advocating for transparency and accountability in governance. The event at Clock Tower Shopian thus stands as a poignant reminder of historical challenges to democracy and the ongoing need to protect fundamental rights in contemporary times.
