  • Employee’s participation in any departments is at the very foundation of an ideal democratic setup of organization. Today there is an opportunity to go beyond traditional forms of citizen participation such as voting and participating in polls. The rise and increasing pervasiveness of digital social media—Facebook, Twitter—have dissolved many technical barriers to widespread and sustained Employee’s involvement in co-producing and co-delivering public services. There arise the Importance of an educational media center in each department and School Education department created Media Centers at State Institute of Education Kashmir. The importance of Educational Media Center is to provide teacher and students easy access for information search. The Educational Media Center will function as a vital instrument as well as a basic requirement for quality education by enriching all parts of the Department’s educational process. And it has been design for the housing and utilization of all educational media within the department. Directorate of School Education Kashmir’s ultimate objective is to ensure that all media platforms are communicating the right messages, contributing for co-creation of a better educational society through participation of all stakeholders and ensuring convergence through a transparent and responsive governance. The major purpose of using media is to increase drive educational engagements along with expanding its reach. Besides, it will also enable School Education Department to transform public perception, help in improving services and educational experience and gain citizen’s trust through transparency. Strategic Objectives of State Media Center at SIE Kashmir • Communication: 1. Provide an authentic information to each stakeholder 2. Providing information about new innovations, policies, orders and endeavors from center to State and vise versa. 3. Use of key media channels as the key platform for communication with all stakeholder. 4. Receipt & Monitoring of Stakeholders Complaints/ grievances through proposed media center. 5. Showcasing all the activities and happenings of School education department in real time. • Contribution: 1. Providing an authentic center for real information source 2. Providing media platform for all stakeholders from students to teachers to parents and community to contribute their ideas and thoughts 3. Arranging media initiatives for stakeholders to actively participate in polling/ decision making/ ideation/ providing feedback 4. Creation of wiki/ social media knowledge repository 5. Creation of e content for teaching Learning Process. • Convergence: 1. Promoting media center as One stop shop for all associated services’ information 2. Promoting Media as collaboration platform for participatory activities 3. To enhance the overall image of Govt School Education Department as brand 4. To scrutinize the information from associate Media Centers for further dissemination. Functions of Media Center at SIE Kashmir shall be • Dissemination of latest News and Updates pertaining to School Education department to all Stakeholders and general Public. • Documentation of educational media programmes and research for enhancing utilization. • Dissemination of media programmes through broadcast and non-broadcast modes through the distribution of ACDs, VCDs, DVDs, multimedia CDs and the web. • Designing alternative learning systems to deal with problems of education. • Orientation of educational planners, administrators to the concept of educational technology. • Training in specialized areas, radio, audio, television and video production and low-cost teaching aids. • Production of audio-visual educational materials and other low-cost aids. • Consultancy of educational technology and distance education programmes • Extension services for supplying and screening of educational films, video tapes and audio tapes to Dooradarsan • The center provides information about innovations and recent development in specific subject areas and in the general field of education. • The media center may serve the purpose of centralizing educational media equipment and materials for accessibility to potential users.
