Katra Pilgrims Bus Terror Attack Case: NIA Chargesheet One Accused
Katra, Dec 14, CNS: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday chargesheeted one accused in the case relating to the fatal terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims from Shiv Khori, Ransoo to Katra in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, a NIA spokesman said that In its chargesheet before the NIA Special Court, Jammu, the agency has charged arrested accused Hakam Khan @ Hakim Din under various sections of IPC AND UA(P) Act.
The attack took place on 9th June 2024, when unknown terrorists had opened indiscriminate firing at the bus when it reached Kanda near Jhandi Morh. Eight pilgrims as well as the bus driver were killed and 41 pilgrims were seriously injured in the attack, aimed at unleashing terror among the general public and those visiting the state of Jammu & Kashmir for pilgrimage. The firing had caused the bus driver to lose control after he was hit on the head with a bullet. The bus then rolled into a deep gorge, leading to the tragic deaths and injuries, they said.
NIA, which was directed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, to take over the investigation, had arrested Hakam after detailed investigations and examination of evidence. Hakam had confessed to being part of the conspiracy behind the attack, which was executed by three terrorists with his active logistic support, NIA investigations revealed. Besides providing them with food and stay arrangements, he had helped the militants in identifying the attack spot, NIA further found, they said. (CNS)

DRUG AWARENESS DRIVE AT KUPWARA ORGANISED BY INDIAN ARMY

As part of Indian Army's continued efforts to eradicate drug menace from Kashmir, Humdard-E-Kupwara (41 RR) in collaboration with Drug De-addiction Centre (DDC), Sub Divisional Hospital, Kupwara organized a drug awareness lecture at Government Degree College and Kupwara Public School of Kupwara district. The session was conducted with an aim to provide insight to the youth about the menace of drug addiction, reasons that lead to the use of drugs and its life threatening effects.

The speakers included Dr Meraz from District Hospital Handwara, Dr Tabassum PHD Psychology, counsellor drug de addiction centre, SDH Kupwara. More than 350 youth including girls and boys & school staff attended the lecture at both the venue.

The response from locals was overwhelming and they appealed for similar campaigns to be organised in future at Kupwara. Awareness initiatives organised by the Chinar Corp Warriors go a long way in the overall development of Kupwara.

DLSA Kupwara holds 4th National Lok Adalat

KUPWARA, DECEMBER 14: In accordance with the Action Plan/ activities calendar 2024, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kupwara under the aegis of NALSA & JK Legal Services Authority, organized 4th National Lok Adalat, across District Kupwara today. The said Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Ms. Shazia Tabasum, Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, (Pr. District & Session Judge) Kupwara, and guidance of Mr. Moneer Ahmad Secretary, DLSA Kupwara.
Four (06) Benches were constituted for the said Lok Adalat comprising of Presiding Officers and Members for the amicable settlement/ compromise of the cases. Cases of different categories were taken up in the said National Lok Adalat, i.e., Criminal Compoundable offences, Bank Recovery Cases, Money Suit, Labour dispute cases, NI Act U/s 138, MACT and other Civil Cases at Pre & Post Litigation stages etc.
Bench First was constituted at Court Complex, Kupwara comprising of Ms. Shazia Tabasum, Chairperson DLSA, Distt. & Session Judge Kupwara and Ms. Iram Irtiza, Munsiff/ JMIC Kupwara. Second Bench was constituted at Court Complex, Kupwara comprising of Mr. Khemraj Sharma, Additional District & Sessions Judge, P.O Fast Track Kupwara and Mr. Moneer Ahmad, Secretary DLSA, Sub-Judge Kupwara.
Bench Third was constituted at Court Complex Handwara, comprising of Ms. Umi Qulsum, Addl. District & Sessions Judge Handwara and Mr. Altaf Ahmad Mir Munsiff/JMIC Handwara. Fourth Bench was constituted at Special Mobile Magistrate Court Trehgam Comprising of Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Ganie and Mr. Reyaz Ahmad Wani (Bar President). Fifth at Munsiff Court Sogam comprising of Mr. Shabir Ahmad Malik Munsiff/ JMIC Sogam, and Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat (Bar President Sogam) and Sixth Bench at Munsiff Court Tangdhar comprising of Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Mir Munsiff/JMIC (Chairman TLSC) Tangdhar and Mr. Mehboob Alahi (Bar President) acted as Member.
A total number of 561 cases was taken up by all the benches, of which 272 number of cases were disposed as settled on spot by intervention of the benches and by participation of the lawyers and litigants.
A total sum of Rs. 52,84,100 was awarded to the aggrieved parties by settlement during the said National Lok Adalat.
Lawyers and litigants participating in the Special Lok Adalat expressed their joy in early disposal of the cases through mutual settlement and appreciated the arrangements of the National Lok Adalat.

DISTRICT POLICE GANDERBAL APPREHENDS A DRUG PEDDLER AND SEIZES CONTRABAND SUBSTANCE.

In continuation of the efforts to eradicate the drug menace from the society, District Police Ganderbal arrested one more Drug Peddler in the jurisdiction of PS Kheerbawani and Seized Contraband Substance.

Today, Police Party of Police Station Kheerbawani laid naka at Polytechnic College Hatbura. During Naka checking one pedestrian namely Wahid Ahmad Shah S/O Mohd Yousuf Shah R/O Shallbugh was stopped and during his search Contraband Substance *3.28Kgs of Bangpatri* was recovered and Seized, which he was carrying in a white Bag. The accused was arrested on the spot.

Accordingly, Case FIR No. 54/2024, under relevant Sections of NDPS Act was registered at PS Kheerbawani and further investigation has been taken up.

Ganderbal Police requests general public to share information regarding drugs in the area and we assure complete anonymity of the informer.

Piping Ceremony Held at DIG Office Baramulla

Baramulla: A piping ceremony was conducted at the DIG Office Baramulla to honor the newly promoted Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Nasir Ahmad Bhat. The ceremony took place today, marking a significant milestone in Bhat's career.
