Students of the 7th semester at [University of Kashmir] have expressed their frustration over the recently announced examination schedule, which they claim is highly unfair and detrimental to their academic success. In a formal letter addressed to the university administration, the students have highlighted significant concerns about the insufficient time allocated for preparation, urging officials to reconsider the timetable.

According to the letter, the 6th semester examinations concluded on October 8, 2024, leaving only two months for students to prepare for their 7th semester exams. Many students argue that this timeframe is inadequate to cover the vast syllabus and prepare effectively. Compounding the issue, a large number of students are already struggling with backlogs from previous semesters, creating additional pressure.

"Examinations are supposed to assess our understanding and knowledge, not set us up for failure," reads the letter. "The current schedule not only increases stress but also jeopardizes the academic performance of students, especially those with backlogs."

Students believe that the rushed schedule contradicts the principles of a supportive and fair academic environment. Some have hinted at legal action should the administration fail to address their concerns, emphasizing their determination to safeguard their academic futures.

The issue has sparked discussions across campus, with many students echoing the sentiment that the university's policies should prioritize the well-being and success of its learners. “It’s not just about one semester; it’s about our overall academic progress,” said a 7th-semester student who wished to remain anonymous.

As of now, there has been no official response from the university administration regarding the students’ demands. However, the growing unrest suggests that failure to address the issue could lead to escalated protests or legal challenges.

The students have appealed for the administration to extend the preparation time and revise the examination schedule to ensure fairness and reduce undue stress.
