How can we assess our relationship with Allah, and how do we determine whether it is strengthening or weakening?

To answer this, you do not need to wait for dreams of glad tidings, the manifestation of miraculous insights, or the experience of lights in a dark chamber. The measure to evaluate this relationship has been placed by Allah in every human heart. You can assess it in a wakeful state, in the light of day, at any time.

Examine your life, your time, your efforts, and your emotions. Take account of yourself and see how faithfully you are upholding the covenant you made with Allah upon embracing faith. How much of your time, effort, abilities, and wealth is being dedicated to the cause of Allah, and how much is spent on other pursuits?

When your personal interests and emotions are challenged, observe the state of your anger and restlessness. Compare this to how your heart feels when you witness rebellion against Allah. What is the intensity of your anguish, your frustration, and your discomfort in such moments?

These are just some of the questions you can ask yourself. By answering them honestly, you can determine every day whether you have a relationship with Allah, how strong it is, and whether it is improving or declining.

As for glad tidings, miracles, or the observation of divine lights, do not preoccupy yourself with acquiring them. The truth is, there is no greater insight than finding the reality of Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah) amidst the deceptive appearances of this material world. There is no greater miracle than remaining steadfast on the straight path in the face of the threats and temptations orchestrated by Satan and his progeny.

Amidst the darkness of disbelief, sin, and misguidance, there is no greater vision of divine light than seeing and following the truth. For a believer, the greatest glad tiding is the ability to recognize Allah as their Lord, to remain firm in this belief, and to walk steadfastly on His path.

Reminder 🎗️ 1. Salah as the Pillar of Islam The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: > "The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound. If it is deficient, then the rest of his deeds will be deficient." (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 413) 2. The Importance of Salah The Prophet (ﷺ) said: > "Between a person and disbelief is abandoning the prayer." (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 82) 3. Rewards for Performing Salah The Prophet (ﷺ) said: > "When a Muslim or a believer washes his face in ablution, every sin he looked at with his eyes is washed away with the water; when he washes his hands, every sin they touched is washed away with the water; and when he washes his feet, every sin they walked towards is washed away with the water—until he emerges purified from sins." (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 244) 4. Salah in Congregation The Prophet (ﷺ) said: > "The prayer in congregation is twenty-seven times superior to the prayer offered by a person alone." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 645) 5. Salah as Light The Prophet (ﷺ) said: > "Salah is light, charity is proof (of faith), and patience is illumination." (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 223) 6. Salah in Difficult Times The Prophet (ﷺ) advised: > "Whenever something distressed the Prophet (ﷺ), he would turn to prayer." (Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith 1319) 7. Prohibition of Missing Salah The Prophet (ﷺ) said: > "Whoever abandons the Asr prayer deliberately, his deeds will be annulled." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 553) 8. The Last Advice of the Prophet (ﷺ) As the Prophet (ﷺ) neared his death, he emphasized: > "Guard your Salah and what your right hands possess."
