Popular Folk singer Bikramjit Bauli Sings Over Phone to boost mental health of Covid-19 patients.
#WATCH|| Meet Young folk artiste Bikramjit Kar, a popular name among the cultural circuit of Barka Valley has reached out to the COVID-19 afflicted patients of the region and across other parts of the state and across the country with his unique initiative to partake the woes by offering to sing songs for the patients over telephone.
In a recent initiative, Bikramjit, popularly known as Baulia for his folk songs has offered to sing for the COVID-19 patients and has shared his telephone numbers on social media for people to call him for listening to songs." I have always been driven by the will to work for the people and being blessed with the capacity to sing, I am happy to involve myself in the battle fought by not just the patients but by the society at large against this virus. A post from legendary singer Lopamudra Mitra on her social media platform that she is willing to sing songs and recite poems for the COVID-19 patients in isolation motivated me to at least try for a similar initiative for my people here and afar. I was touched when a woman who had called me with a request to sing for her during her days fighting against COVID-19 called me again to inform that she has been tested negative. It is a priceless solace for me," Bikramjit told The Assam Tribune on Saturday.
He added to mention that so far he has attended over 217 calls from people across Barak Valley and various parts of the state and even from other parts of the country. " While I have received calls to sing songs from patients who are in home isolation mostly, there have been requests from people who have been fatugued with the gloom around us. More than the physical ailment, the disease has also brought mental distress and I believe we have to come out of the stigma triggered by the onslaught of the virus . This is the time we must rise above and stand by people in despair an
