The Government of India has selected Himachal Pradesh's famous folk singer Dr. Krishan Lal Sehgal for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of music. The high level National Selection Committee of the Government of India has selected 92 eminent artists from across the country for work in various genres.
Dr. Sehgal is receiving this award for keeping alive the unique identity of Himachali music and the pure folk culture of Dev Dhara as well as for promoting it.
It is noteworthy that for his special contribution and wide promotion of Himachali folk music, Dr. Sehgal has been honored with many national and regional awards, which also includes Himachal Gaurav Award. Many leading organizations of the state including All India Radio and Doordarshan have appreciated and honored his contribution.
Dr. Sehgal, who belongs from Sirmaur, has sung many bhajans, plays and ghazals in his melodious voice. Dr. Krishna Lal Sehgal was a professor of music, accomplished in many genres of music, from singing ghazals to playing the sitar. The mountain songs sung by him still resonate in the valleys of Himachal.

After 20 years, the Jatar Rath Yatra of Dom Devta Maharaj is on circumambulation. It is a grand historical and ancient deity festival associated with traditions. Madanlal Verma, the head of the Deity Committee, says that the tradition of Jatar of Devta Dom Maharaj is going on since ancient times. He told that during the princely time a disaster had come upon a person from the royal family of the princely state of Keonthal located in Junga, Which was resolved by Dom Devta Maharaj. Since then this tradition started and after that the tradition became that Jatar was organized on the birth of Tikka (prince) in the royal family. But it was not possible to complete it due to the high welfare of Dom Devta, after which the kardars of the deity decided to get this Jatar done after 20 years after taking permission from the king of Junga. According to the kardars of the deity, the Jatar of the deity is also organized for the welfare of the people and peace of the area. The tradition dates back to twenty years. Doomeshwar Devta Maharaj is one of the main temples of Shimla district. Whom people worship a lot. It is believed that whoever goes to the Dom deity, he fulfills his/her every wish.The Doom Devta will remain seated in the chariot till the Jatar Rath Yatra is completed. He will be worshiped in the chariot itself. It will take about four years to complete this yatra and upon completion of the yatra, the Doom Devta will come to his holy place, Guthan and a huge Mahayagya which is called as 'Bharatara (बढ़ातर)' in the local language will be organized. After that, after going to the historically famous Shakti Peeth, Nagarkot, after taking a bath, they will enter their temple, Guthan.
