**District Administration Intensifies Multi-Pronged Strategy to Combat Drug Menace in Samba**

In a decisive move to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and trafficking, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, today chaired a crucial meeting of the District-Level NCORD Committee at the DC Office Complex to review and reinforce anti-drug measures across the district. During the comprehensive review, Ms. Sudan examined the progress of enforcement actions under the NDPS Act, including arrests, financial investigations, and detentions, while directing officers to ensure meticulous maintenance of revenue records related to drug cases to prevent any misuse of property documentation. Emphasizing a holistic approach to tackle the drug menace, the Deputy Commissioner called for intensified awareness campaigns, strengthening of Addiction Treatment Facilities, and enhanced inter-departmental coordination to create a robust prevention and rehabilitation ecosystem. She issued specific directives for achieving complete computerization and online billing at all pharmaceutical outlets, mandating regular inspections of medical shops to prevent drug diversion. Highlighting the critical need for community involvement, Ms. Sudan urged collective action to eradicate illegal cultivation of contraband crops such as bhang and poppy, while ensuring heightened surveillance at vulnerable locations. The meeting, attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Virender Singh Manhas, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Singh, and other senior district officers, reflected the administration’s unwavering commitment to creating a drug-free Samba through coordinated enforcement, prevention, and rehabilitation efforts that safeguard the youth and secure the district’s future.

*VEHICLE LOADED WITH ‘KHAIR' WOODEN LOGS SEIZED BY SAMBA POLICE, 02 ACCUSED ARRESTED*

Samba: November 07, 2025: Samba Police has seized a Mahindra load carrier loaded with Khair wooden logs and arrested two accused in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.

A team of Police Station Vijaypur during vehicle checking Naka at Gurah Morh Vijaypur, signaled to stop a Mahindra load carrier bearing registration No. JK21J-8825 for its checking which was moving towards Vijaypur side. But the driver of the vehicle accelerated the speed and tried to escape from the spot. The alert Police Naka Party successfully intercepted the said vehicle and during checking, Khair wooden logs were found laden which were being transported illegally without any valid permission.

The driver of the vehicle namely Usman Choudhary S/o Yousaf Hussain and his associate namely Injamam Choudhary S/o Yousaf Hussain both resident of Badhori tehsil Bari Brahmana district Samba have been arrested and the vehicle alongwith wooden logs have also been seized.

A case FIR No. 120/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started.

AIIMS Jammu had the privilege of hosting Dr. Krishnan Ganapathy, MCh (Neurosurgery), FACS, FICS, FAMS, PhD — a Distinguished Professor at Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, and a globally acclaimed pioneer in Telemedicine and Digital Health. A visionary in the field, Dr. Ganapathy has been instrumental in introducing telemedicine and digital healthcare solutions across India, serving as the former President of the Telemedicine Society of India and the Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation.
During his week-long visit to AIIMS Jammu from 31st October to 7th November 2025, Dr. Ganapathy interacted with faculty, residents, and students through a series of thought-provoking lectures on Work-Life Balance in the Medical Profession, Role of Technology in Healthcare 2030 – A Peep into the Future, and Neurosurgery in India: Past, Present & Future.
The highlight of his visit was the Institute Oration delivered on 6th November 2025 at the Convention Centre, AIIMS Vijaypur, on the topic “AI in Healthcare: A Clinician’s Perspective.” He emphasized that Artificial Intelligence should be viewed as “augmented intelligence,” assisting clinicians to make more informed, efficient, and compassionate decisions rather than replacing them.
Impressed by the institute’s modern infrastructure and technological capabilities, Dr. Ganapathy said, “I am in love with AIIMS Jammu. The infrastructure, the technological advancements, and the commitment of its leadership are truly impressive. If given an opportunity to collaborate, I would be delighted to contribute to this remarkable institution.”
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, extended a warm welcome and appreciation to Dr. Ganapathy. SAMBA POLICE SEIZES 06 VEHICLES INCLUDING 04 DUMPERS FOR ILLEGAL MINING

Samba: November 07, 2025: Continuing its drive against illegal mining, Samba Police has seized six vehicles including four dumpers in the jurisdiction of Police Stations Samba and Ramgarh which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material.

Police teams headed by SHO PS Samba, SHO PS Ramgarh and Incharge Police Post Mansar of PS Samba while performing patrolling duty in their jurisdictional areas, have seized four dumpers bearing registration Nos. JK21J-7540, JK21E-5891, JK14F-0422, JK21G-7079 and two tractor trolleys without registration Nos. which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material in the area.

The above mentioned vehicles have been seized by Samba Police and handed over to the Geology & Mining Department, Samba for further legal action.

Government Degree College, Ghagwal in collaboration with Tehsil Administration and Govt. Girls High School proudly inaugurated its grand “VandeMataram” Celebrations an event dedicated to honoring India’s patriotic spirit, cultural heritage, and national unity. The inaugural ceremony commenced with great enthusiasm in the presence of Dr. Sujata Slathia, Principal of the College, Mr. Shakil Ahmed, Tehsildar Ghagwal, other dignitaries from Tehsil office, ZEPO Office, GGHS, faculty members, and students.

The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing knowledge, purity, and the eternal flame of patriotism. An Oath to respect and abide by the laws of the constitution was also administered. This was followed by the Live Streaming of the National “Vande Mataram” Inaugural Function, enabling students and faculty to witness the historic celebration along with the rest of the nation. The initiative aimed to promote patriotism, unity, and awareness of the cultural significance of Vande Mataram among the youth. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the live telecast began, displaying the grand national inaugural ceremony broadcast from the central venue.
