Central University of Jammu Celebrates 76th Republic Day with Patriotic Fervor

Jammu, Jan 26, 2025: The Central University of Jammu (CU Jammu) marked the 76th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and national pride at its campus today. The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of the national flag by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.

In his address, Prof. Sanjeev Jain reflected on the significance of the Republic Day, acknowledging India’s progress and the university’s contributions towards the nation’s advancement. He particularly emphasized the growing impact of education, research, science, and technology in the country, recognizing CU Jammu’s role in driving innovation.

The Vice Chancellor proudly shared the remarkable achievements of the university, highlighting that six of its faculty members have been recognized among the top 2% of the most globally cited researchers, according to Stanford University's report. The university’s research H-index stands at an impressive 62, with over 21,000 citations. He also mentioned the substantial grants received by the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Physics, which have received FIST grants of ₹2.2 crore and ₹1.74 crore, respectively.

Prof. Jain celebrated the university’s student successes, including four students securing positions in the top 1% of the SWAYAM-NPTEL online courses and the esports team’s achievement of securing second place in a national tournament at IIT Roorkee.

In his speech, Prof. Jain also spoke of CU Jammu's ongoing infrastructural developments, including the near-completion of new academic and residential buildings, which will soon accommodate 1,200 students in campus hostels. Upcoming projects include an auditorium, a humanities block, and an engineering block. Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor outlined the university’s efforts in facilitating placements for 250 students, with the highest annual package offered at ₹10.5 lakh.

Highlighting CU Jammu’s commitment to advancing research, Prof. Jain announced the establishment of the Himalayan High Altitude Atmospheric and Climate Research Station in Patnitop, Jammu & Kashmir. This station will promote research in atmospheric and climate science in collaboration with national and international institutions.

The Vice Chancellor also shared the university’s future plans, which include expanding skill development and employment-oriented education, promoting research that addresses local and national challenges, developing a green and smart campus, strengthening community engagement, and implementing the New Education Policy to focus on holistic development and "Bharat Bodh" (Indian consciousness).

Earlier in the day, a Guard of Honor was presented to the Vice Chancellor by the University Security Guards and NCC cadets.

The celebrations concluded with a vibrant cultural program in the Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, presented by the Cultural Club and NCC students. The program showcased the rich diversity and heritage of India. Prof. Sanjeev Jain congratulated the students, faculty, and staff for their contributions and encouraged them to uphold the values of the Republic. On the eve of 76th Republic Day, the university estates wing organized a large-scale tree plantation drive on its campus, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability and ecological conservation. The initiative saw the enthusiastic participation of students, faculty, and staff, led by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain. As part of the drive, 500 different varieties of plants were planted across the campus. These included indigenous medicinal plants and trees known for their environmental benefits. The event ended with the singing of the National Anthem.

Notorious Criminal Booked Under PSA by Samba Police

Acting tough against criminals, Samba Police today booked a notorious criminal under the Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) and lodged him in District Jail Udhampur.

The notorious criminal namely Sunil Kumar @ Kashu S/o Krishan Lal R/o Radwan tehsil Ramgarh district Samba has been booked under PSA after obtaining formal detention order from the District Magistrate Samba. The booked criminal has been subsequently lodged in District Jail Udhampur.

The said criminal is involved in multiple cases registered against him at different Police Stations of district Samba including PS Ramgarh, PS Vijaypur, PS Samba, PS Ghagwal and PS Rajbagh of district Kathua. The repeated criminal activities of the said notorious criminal have posed a serious threat to public peace and tranquility in the region.

In order to refrain the subject from indulging in criminal activities, a dossier under PSA was recommended by SSP Samba against the subject, upon which the District Magistrate Samba after getting satisfied issued a PSA warrant against him.

The arrest was made by a police team headed by SHO PS Ramgarh under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba.

The locals have highly appreciated the efforts of the Samba Police in curbing the criminal activities in the area.

प्राचार्य सुनीत गुप्ता ने मुख्य अतिथि और विशिष्ट अतिथि का स्वागत छात्रों द्वारा बनाए गए हस्तनिर्मित गुलदस्ते भेंट कर किया। प्राचार्य ने कहा कि गणतंत्र दिवस का आयोजन छात्रों को यह सिखने का अवसर देता है कि भारत का संविधान हमारे अधिकारों और कर्तव्यों का आधार है। यह दिन न केवल हमारे संविधान की महत्ता को समझने का अवसर है, बल्कि छात्रों में राष्ट्रीयता एकता और नागरिक जिम्मेदारियों का भाव विकसित करने में भी सहायक है। इसे समझना और सम्मान देना हर छात्र के जीवन में अनिवार्य है। मुख्य अतिथि ने अपने सन्देश में कहा कि इस दिन के माध्यम से छात्रों में देशभक्ति और राष्ट्रीय गर्व की भावना विकसित होती है। झंडा वंदन, राष्ट्रगान और सांस्कृतिक प्रस्तुतियां उनके मन में अपने देश के प्रति प्रेम और आदर का संचार करती हैं।
मुख्य अतिथि ने विद्यालय के युवा टूरिज्म क्लब और कम्युनिटी पार्टिसिपेशन क्लब के छात्र सदस्यों व शिक्षकों सत्य प्रकाश,ज्योति कटोच, युवा टूरिज्म क्लब समन्वयक व भूगोल शिक्षक रोहित शर्मा, मलकित सिंह,सरवर हुसैन,अशोक कुमार, उप-प्राचार्य डॉ. डी. एस. सकलानी व प्राचार्य को विद्यालय में प्रधानमंत्री स्कूल फॉर राइजिंग इंडिया योजना के तहत उत्कृष्ट कार्यों के लिए प्रमाण पत्र देकर सम्मानित किया। इस अवसर पर विशेष अतिथि व भारत स्वाभिमान न्यास के राज्याध्यक्ष नीलाम्बर डोगरा ने भारत स्काउट्स और गाइड्स के छात्रों को भी नवोदय विद्यालय समिति चंडीगढ़ संभाग के अंतर्गत सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रस्तुति के लिए प्रमाण पत्र प्रदान किए।

AIIMS Jammu Expands Orthopedic Services with Total Knee Replacement Surgeries

AIIMS Jammu has now expanded its orthopedic services to include total knee replacement surgeries, further enhancing the range of advanced treatments available at the institute. The procedure was successfully performed under the expertise of Dr. Raashid Anjum and his team, treating a patient with bilateral osteoarthritis of the knees through bilateral total knee replacement. The anesthesia team, led by Dr. Shruti, provided vital support throughout the surgery, ensuring a smooth and safe procedure for the patient, who is now recovering well with improved mobility.

The Director of AIIMS Jammu acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Department of Orthopedics in advancing the institute’s healthcare services. He commended the department for its ongoing efforts to expand and innovate, particularly in its diverse range of specialized surgeries. The Executive Director & CEO of AIIMS Jammu, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Gupta, emphasized the importance of the department’s contributions in providing high-quality care to the community and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to supporting its growth with the latest medical technologies and equipment. The department’s continued success and expansion are a testament to the dedication and expertise of its skilled medical team.
This development complements AIIMS Jammu’s ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services under the able leadership of Dr. Amit Thakur, Additional Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, AIIMS Jammu, and comprised the faculty members Dr. Raashid Anjum, Associate Professor, Dr. Tarsem Lal Motten, Assistant Professor, Dr. Sabarathinam Ravi, Assistant Professor, AIIMS Jammu. Adding knee replacement surgeries to its already established total hip replacement offerings. The institute continues to advance its capabilities in providing quality care to the region. Since its inception, the Department of Orthopedics at AIIMS Jammu has consistently expanded its services to include a wide range of specialized surgeries. These include pediatric orthopedics, trauma care, adult reconstruction, joint replacements, spine surgeries, and deformity correction procedures. DIG JSK RANGE CONDUCTED CHECKING IN JAMMU, SAMBA AND KATHUA IN VIEW OF FORTHCOMING REPUBLIC DAY-2025
25 January , 2025:
Dy. Inspector General of Police, JSK Range, Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, conducted checking in Jammu, Samba and Kathua Districts with regard to preparation of security arrangements of Republic day celebration at Main Venues Including MMA Stadium Jammu, Sport Stadium Samba and Sports Stadium Kathua as well as present security scenario in Bathindi, Sainik Colony, Chatta, Parmandal Mohr, Bari Brahmna, Vijaypur, Samba Railway Station, Naka Lodi Mohr, Dayala Chack, Rajbagh, Nagri. Bambyal, Basholi. and Billawar,Mansar.,Vis Dhar Road, National Highway Jammu to Kathua with Concerned SSsP and other officers.
During the checking/inspection, DIG JSK Range Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma-IPS, emphasized the importance of the safety and security of the participants/Public in the venue where Republic Day is going to be celebrate. He highlighted the need for meticulous planning and ex*****on of security measures to address any potential threats and challenges.
All the officers were exhorted to implement operation third eye in their respective jurisdiction in coordination with other stake-holders for the foolproof security in their Area of Responsibility. Moreover, all the officers were directed to strengthen all the nakas especially during night/wee hours. It was also discussed that proper liaison be maintained with all the intelligence agencies (Army/Para Military forces and other Central agencies) in their respective jurisdiction. Besides strategies to manage the expected high influx of participants, including traffic regulation, parking facilities, and emergency response measures, emergencies during the celebrations reviewed.
DIG JSK Range took the stock of security review including preparedness and also visited the Main Venue MAM Stadium and other venues of District Jammu, Samba and Kathua. He also instructed all officers to take all safety measures and keep the free flow of traffic on National Highway whose progress work is underway.
During enroute naka checking DIG JSK Range briefed the officers and Jawans regarding nature of duty and directed all the officers to remain extra vigilant during their duty hours. During checking DIG JSK Range also met with general public and requested them to immediately inform their concerned police station/police post if any untoward incident occurs or any suspicious movement found.

Instructions were given by DIG JSK Range to all the officers to keep active surveillance over the activities of OGWs, History Sheeters and Trouble creators. All the officers were directed to start area domination from early morning so that no any untoward incidence took place. Officers of Police Component were also directed by DIG JSK Range to activate all the SOG QRTs to deal with any kind of CI exigency.

*CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL MINING BY SAMBA POLICE; SEIZES 5 VEHICLES INCLUDING FOUR DUMPERS, ONE EXCAVATOR*

Samba, January 24: Continuing crackdown on illegal mining, Samba Police has seized five vehicles including four dumpers and one excavator in the jurisdiction of Police Stations Samba and Ghagwal which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material.

Police teams headed by Incharge Police Post Mansar, Incharge Police Post Rakh Amb Talli both falling under PS Samba and Incharge Police Post Rajpura falling under PS Ghagwal while performing patrolling duty in their jurisdictional areas, have seized an excavator (JCB) without registration No. and four dumpers bearing registration Nos. JK21K-2727, JK19A-5938, JK19A-0884 & JK21F-9145 which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material in the area.

The above mentioned vehicles have been seized by Samba Police and handed over to the Geology & Mining Department, Samba for further legal action.
