State Government Orders Pay Restoration for Regularized Employees in New Posts

Sikkim Government has announced the restoration of original pay for employees who were regularized in newly created posts, such as Village Grievance Redressal Assistants, Village Police Guards, Marketing Assistants, and Child Care Assistants. The decision, made through Notification No. 99/GEN/DOP dated 06.02.2020, comes in line with a 2019 policy that ensures employees receive their original pay levels after completing five years of service post-regularization.

Previously, many of these posts did not exist in the government framework, complicating efforts to determine their appropriate pay level. To address this, the State Government has ordered that employees regularized in these isolated positions will be moved to higher pay levels in the Pay Matrix. Specifically:

- Employees regularized at Level 1 will now be placed in Level 4.
- Employees regularized at Level 2 will be upgraded to Level 6.
- Employees regularized at Level 3 will be elevated to Level 7.

Sikkim Government Enforces New Guidelines for Self-Help Groups to Prevent Unauthorized NGO Affiliations

The Rural Development Department of Sikkim has issued a circular aimed at regulating the affiliations of Self-Help Group (SHG) members under the Sikkim Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) with non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The directive emphasizes that no SHG member can join or affiliate with any external NGO without prior approval from SRLM officials. This move is intended to enhance the effectiveness of the SRLM's programs by ensuring members are fully dedicated to its initiatives, thereby preventing overlaps and conflicts of interest. Non-compliance with this directive may result in disqualification from SRLM benefits. The government seeks to create a cohesive approach to rural upliftment and empower communities through focused engagement.
