R.S.Pura (Tehsil) is one of the Town in Jammu District , Jammu & Kashmir State .It was the first planned city of J&K, that's why it is also known as Nawan-shehar. It is also one of the major producers of World's Famous Basmati Rice. It is located 19.4 km distance from its District Main City Jammu . It is located 240 km distance from its State Main City Srinagar, Jammu . Ranbir Singh Pura is locate

d at 32.63°N 74.73°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 270 metres (886 feet). Ranbir singh Pura is one of the most progressive tehsil of Jammu District. Pura is named after the great Dogra ruler Maharaja Ranbir Singh, successor of Maharaja Gulab Singh. Before independence, this area was regularly visited by the Jaddi people of Dalowali who used to carry sugarcane to Nawanshehar (R. Pura) Sugar Mills. Before 1947 there was a big sugar mill in RS Pura. The city was made by Maharaja Ranbir Singh under the supervision of Diwan Jawala sahai in the 1800s .Earlier there was very wild open area, later developed as a model town. It was first planned town in the state with streets, pond, elephant training centre, big temple named Diwana mandir along with big garden. Diwan's office was where now is tehsildar's office is situated.Prior to 1947 the state was linked with rest of the Country through rail via R.S. There existed an old station in the city, which had train services to Sialkot junction, now in Pakistan. The Station was also linked with Wazirabad and Narowal (both in Pakistan). This Station was built in around 1867. Train's station was at RS Pura, Miran Sahib, and Bikram Chowk.The main economic activity of the R S Pura is agriculture and dairy farming. Rice (Basmati) and wheat are major crops while mustard, berseem and vegetables are also grown. Rakh area of Badyal Brahmana and Arnia are very famous for vegetable farming. R.S.Pura has many rice mills for the processing of high quality basmati rice. The main tourist destination is Grahana Wetland, where migratory birds from temprate zone of asia comes to enjoy this beautiful landscape. The main town is a complete in itself to fulfill all needs of daily life likewise departmental stores, garments showrooms, sweets & confectionary, fresh fruits and vegetable open market. Apart from these healthcare services, post office, nationalised banks (JKB,SBI, PNB,PSB) and one of India's leading private sector bank's HDFC Bank and ICICI are also present. The major Educational institutions of R. Pura are SKUAST-Veterinary College, Govt. Degree College, Govt. Higher Sec School and many high schools. *Two Drug peddlers Arrested, 4.70 Grams Heroine like Substance Recovered By PS Miran Sahib*

Today Police Party of P/s Miran Sahib led by *Sho Miran Sahib Insp Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of Sdpo Rs Pura Sh Nikhil Gogna and overall supervision of Sp Hqrs sh Ramnish Gupta* established a naka at Kotli Mian Fateh Miran Sahib for checking of vehicles. During checking one motorcycle make *Splendor bearing registration no. Jk02 BU2072* coming from Langotian towards Miran Sahib stopped for checking on suspicious grounds.To evade checking the rider and the pillion rider of the said bike tried to fled away from the Naka, but the alert police team apprehended them. During questioning they disclosed their names as *1.Amit Bhagat S/O Janak Rak R/O Chawala Morh Tehsil R.S.Pura District Jammu 2. Ramesh Bhagat S/O Ashok kumar R/O Chawala Morh Tehsil R.S.Pura District Jammu.* During their personal search and search of above said vehicle *4.70* Grams of Heroine(chitta) like substance has been recovered from their possession. The said persons used the above said vehicle for the supply of he**in like substance.
In this regard a case FIR No. 103/2023 U/S 8/21/22/29/60 NDPS Act stands registered in this P/S and further investigation started.
