Laapata Ladies: A Refreshing Satirical Take on Patriarchy!

Laapata Ladies (2024) is a brilliant example of tight screenplay writing. The dialogues are filled with many humorous punchlines that make one laugh throughout the film. The characters are well fleshed out by writer Sneha Desai from an award-winning material written by Biplab Goswami. I feel that sometimes there is a high chance humour may make the subject and themes look trivial if not written properly but here that is not the case. The actors realised the characters so well. Sparsh Shrivastava's performance is noteworthy because he expressed so much with his excellent body language. 

Patriarchy is deeply rooted and we have a long way to go. Films like these make us realise that with a lot of laughter.

A story based in Benaras about four lives that intersect along the Ganga. A lower-caste boy in a hopeless love, a daughter torn with guilt, a father sinking in greed and a spirited kid craving for a family, each one is yearning to escape the constrictions of a small town.
