*Meet Iqra Bhat: A Tailor’s Daughter Who Secured Rank 2 in JKAS Exams*

Srinagar, Oct 30 (NVI): Iqra Farooq Bhat from Zakura, Srinagar, achieved rank 2 in the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive Examination, becoming the top candidate from the Kashmir Valley.

She has been preparing for the exam since 2021. Following the announcement of the results on Wednesday, visitors flocked to her home to congratulate her and her family.

Bhat, who comes from a tailoring family, expressed gratitude to God and her family for their support. “I am thankful to my parents, my brother, my relatives, and everyone who prayed for me. I am thrilled that my hard work has paid off,” she said.

Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledged the struggles she faced but emphasized her gratitude for her success. She stated, “I have always wanted to be in a position to help others. My journey has been challenging, but I remained focused on my goal.”

Bhat encouraged future aspirants, advising them to maintain hope and study consistently, regardless of setbacks. “Even if they don’t qualify the first time, they can keep working hard,” she added.

*J&K Govt Sanctions Rs. 14.85 Crore for 90 MLAs' Vehicles*

Srinagar, Oct 22: (NVI) : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the release of additional funds amounting to Rs. 14.85 crore for the procurement of 90 Mahindra Scorpio vehicles for the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).

This sanction was issued as part of the Motor Garages Capex Budget for the year 2024-25. The funds, which will be drawn from the "Purchase and Replacement of Vehicles" allocation, will be placed at the disposal of the Director, Motor Garages, J&K.

The vehicles will be procured through the Government e-Marketplace (GEM) portal in compliance with the General Financial Rules (GFR) 2017, after completing due e-tendering procedures and formalities.

The order also states that the funds are to be used specifically for the purpose of vehicle procurement and must not be diverted or re-appropriated for any other use.

The department has been instructed to ensure that there is no idle parking of the funds, and no new posts, including drivers, shall be created as part of this procurement.

The Director, Motor Garages, has been tasked with ensuring that all financial transactions related to the procurement are secured and guaranteed, with the utilization certificates and red accounts to be submitted by March 31, 2025.—(News Vibes of India)

*J&K Haj Committee extends last date for depositing of Advance Amount for Haj-2025*

Srinagar, Oct 22 (GNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee today notified for the information of all the Intending Haj Pilgrims of Haj 2025 that the last date for depositing the Advance Haj Amount of Rs.1,30,300/- (One Lakh Thirty Thousand and Three Hundred only) has been extended up to 31st October 2024 by Haj Committee of India Mumbai vide Circular No.10 dated:21/10/2024.

After depositing the advance Haj Amount, the Provisionally Selected Pilgrims shall submit Haj Application Form (HAF) Solemn Declaration & Undertaking, Copy of Pay-in-slip/Online receipt, Medical Screening and Fitness Certificate (as per format available on the website i.e., www.hajcommittee.gov.in), Self-attested copy of international passport and One Passport Size Photograph (white background vin (Haj Section) of the concerned Deputy Commissioners Office up to 05 November, 2024.

However, the Provisionally Selected Pilgrims of district Srinagar shall deposit the aforesaid documents directly in Haj House Bemina, Srinagar by or before 05 November, 2024.

Further, all the selected pilgrims are advised to download the Medical Screening and Fitness Certificate from Haj Committee of India website www.hajcommittee.gov.in and get the same issued from Govt, Medical Officer after medical examination.(GNS)

*Lt Governor felicitates the winners of the first-ever International Marathon in J&K*

Srinagar, October 20(GNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today felicitated the winners of Kashmir Marathon, a first-ever International Marathon in Jammu Kashmir.
More than 1700 runners from across the country and 12 foreign nations participated in 42 km Full Marathon and 21 km Half Marathon.

In his address, the Lt Governor congratulated all the winners and participants. He lauded the efforts of Tourism Department, J&K Police, Security Forces, Youth Services & Sports Department and all the stakeholders for the massive success of Kashmir Marathon.
“This successful mega event has put J&K on the world marathon map,” he said.

Terming the occasion as another historic moment for J&K, the Lt Governor expressed gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for absolute transformation of J&K, which has made hosting of such international events possible.

“Hon'ble Prime Minister's decisive leadership and restoration of peace and normalcy in J&K has ensured people can enjoy international cricket matches, Formula-4 race and feel proud by hosting global event like G20 Summit and International Yoga Day,” the Lt Governor said.

He said the record tourists’ arrival in the last few years stands as a testimony to the peace, progress and prosperity in J&K.

The Lt Governor also announced that very soon Jammu Marathon will be organized on similar scale as Kashmir Marathon.

With its ideal climate, rich cultural heritage, warm hospitality, and scenic beauty, J&K is emerging as a preferred destination for international sporting events. The signature running events at Srinagar and Jammu in future, will bring together runners from across the globe and encourage tourism, he further added.

Speaking on the occasion, Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty said: “I feel blessed to have got the opportunity to be a part of this historic day. With the kind of hospitality and scenic beauty J&K have, I am confident that in the coming days, it will become the number one global spot for international events like Marathons. Efforts will surely be made to bring more films to Jammu Kashmir”.

The upcoming Vande Bharat Sleeper train from New Delhi to Srinagar, which is expected to begin operations in early 2025, will offer three different classes of accommodations:

AC 3 Tier (3A): ₹2000

AC 2 Tier (2A): ₹2500

AC First Class (1A): ₹3000

The train will cover over 800 kilometers in less than 13 hours, with key stops at stations such as Ambala, Ludhiana, Jammu Tawi, and Banihal. It will depart from New Delhi at 7:00 PM and arrive in Srinagar by 8:00 AM.

*Inquiry launched into Pulwama patient’s death due to suspected medical negligence*

Pulwama, Sep 15 (NVI): Authorities have opened an inquiry into the death of a woman who passed away at the Mohmadia Nursing Home in Pulwama on September 14, following suspicions that medical negligence could be the cause of the tragedy.

In this regard, an official order issued by the Director of Health Services Kashmir, a copy of which lies with NVI, states the formation of a special inquiry committee to probe the matter.

It reads as the committee, among others, includes Dr. Yasmeen Kangoo, Assistant Director, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) – Chairman, Dr. Masood Rashid, Consultant Anesthesiologist, District Hospital Shopian – Member, and Dr. Imran Ali, Consultant Surgeon, Sub-District Hospital Kreeri – Member.

It also states that the committee is to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances under which Ms. Saboora, daughter of Arshid Hussain Bhat from Arihal in Pulwama, died and submit a detailed report with specific recommendations within a week.

It further reads that the report would clearly indicate legal action to be taken against those found guilty of negligence, as prescribed by law.

Meanwhile, this incident has caused anger and sorrow among the locals, with more details in this regard awaited.—(News Vibes of India)

Srinagar, Sep 06 (NVI): A Naib Tehsildar was placed under suspension today by the District Election Officer Pulwama for dereliction of duties.

A copy of the suspension order available with the NVI reads that Ab Majid Malik, Naib Tehsildar Palpora, deployed as Magisterate in the flying squad Team is hereby placed under suspension for dereliction of duties and attached with the Additional Deputy Commissioner Tral.

*Div Com Kmr, IGP Kashmir review departure arrangements for first batch of Hajj pilgrims at Srinagar airport*

Budgam, May 09 (GNS): As departure of Hajj pilgrims, 2024 commenced from Srinagar international airport today, the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Biduri along with IGP Kashmir, V K Birdi today reviewed the departure arrangements for the first batch of Haj pilgrims 2024 of Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir from Srinagar International Airport.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Akshay Labroo; SSP Budgam, Nikhal Borkar; Director International AirPort and other concerned officers were also present.

On the occasion, Div Com interacted with the pilgrims and conveyed his greetings and best wishes to them.
During the visit, the Div Com also took first-hand appraisal of facilities including availability of clean drinking water, medical facilities, refreshment, volunteer services and traffic management in and outside of airport premises besides immigration check facilities and baggage carrying facilities.

He directed concerned authorities to ensure hassle free departure of all the pilgrims till the conclusion of departure schedule.

Meanwhile, the first group of 642 pilgrims, in two flights i.e., 322 each took-off from Srinagar international airport today for this year’s Hajj, starting the pilgrimage's transforming journey full of fervor and optimism.

A total of 7008 hajj pilgrims from UT of J&K will be embarking on a holy pilgrimage this year.

The pilgrims gathered at the airport in Srinagar wearing modest white attire as they bid farewell to their loved ones.(GNS)
