Surankote, February 1: In an unannounced inspection aimed at assessing the healthcare facilities and ensuring efficient service delivery, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Poonch, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, conducted a surprise visit to the Government Sub District Hospital (SDH) Surankote at around 8:30 PM today. He was accompanied by Block Medical Officer (BMO) Surankote, Dr. Mohd Yousf.

During the visit, Dr. Khan meticulously inspected various sections of the hospital, including the Jan Aushadhi Kendra, Labour Room, X-ray Unit, Laboratory, and different wards, interacting directly with patients to understand their concerns and experiences. He specifically reviewed the functionality of the heating systems installed for patient comfort, particularly crucial during the ongoing winter season.

The CMO also assessed the readiness and management of the casualty ward, ensuring that emergency services were operating efficiently. In addition, he conducted a thorough check of the staff rosters and doctors' duty schedules, emphasizing the importance of adherence to duty hours and proper rotation to avoid service gaps. The availability and condition of ambulances were also reviewed to ensure quick response times in emergency situations.

Dr. Khan expressed concern over certain areas that required immediate attention and improvement. He instructed the medical staff to maintain high standards of hygiene, ensure the availability of essential medicines at the Jan Aushadhi Kendra, and enhance patient care services.

Addressing the staff, he stressed the importance of accountability, dedication, and compassionate care towards patients. He also directed the BMO Surankote, Dr. Mohd Yousf, to monitor the implementation of corrective measures regularly.

This surprise inspection highlights the health department’s commitment to ensuring quality healthcare services across the district, holding medical staff accountable, and addressing patient grievances effectively.

Two Bike Lifters Arrested; Three Stolen Motorcycles and a Car Recovered

In a significant breakthrough against vehicle theft, Poonch Police today apprehended two individuals involved in a series of motorcycle thefts, leading to the recovery of three stolen bikes and one car. The arrests were made following a well-coordinated operation based on specific intelligence inputs.

Acting on credible information, a special naka (checkpoint) was laid at Sangala Chowk by police station Mendhar where vigilant police personnel initiated thorough checks on passing vehicles. During the operation, two youths were intercepted while riding a motorcycle without a registration number plate. Upon being stopped, both individuals were asked to produce valid documents pertaining to the motorcycle; however, they failed to present any such documents, raising immediate suspicion.

The suspects were subjected to sustained questioning, during which they confessed to having stolen the motorcycle from the Pathaana Teer area. Upon further interrogation, the duo disclosed their identities as:
1. Sameer Khan, son of Mohd Azam Khan, resident of Dharana, Tehsil Mendhar
2. Imtiaz Hussain, son of Mohd Taj, belonging to the Salwah, presently residing at Gohlad, Mendhar

Subsequent to their confession, the police conducted follow-up operations based on the information provided by the accused, which resulted in the recovery of:
• Two additional motorcycles, one bearing registration number JK12B 3394 and second without number plate.
• One Hyundai i10 car, bearing registration number 2199, which is suspected to be linked to criminal activities

The swift action by the police not only led to the recovery of stolen property but also highlighted the efficiency of intelligence-based operations in curbing vehicle thefts in the region.

MVD Poonch Conducted Road Safety signature Campaign and Awareness drive in Poonch

*Poonch* : As part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month Motor Vehicles department Poonch conducted a signature campaign led by Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal (IAS) who is the Chairman Road safety Committee Poonch.

The Deputy Commissioner initiated the signature campaign in the lawns of the Deputy Commissioner Office with a message to the people of Poonch to abide by the road safety rules in order to avoid accidents and save precious lives.

The Deputy Commissioner also took a selfie with the road safety selfie boards installed at the venue.

Arto Poonch Basharat mahmood(JKAS) requested the Public of Poonch to adopt Road safety principles in their daily life . He also requested the parents not to give motor bikes and vehicles to their young children till they attain a valid Driving license.

National Leprosy Eradication Programme Organised in Poonch

Poonch,January 30 :- A special awareness program under the National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) was organized on Thursday at the Conference Hall of the Chief Medical Office, Poonch. The event aimed to spread awareness about leprosy, its prevention, and available treatment options.

Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Poonch, presided over the program, addressing the importance of early detection and medical intervention in eradicating the disease. He emphasized that leprosy is curable with timely treatment and that the government provides free medication under the NLEP.

The event witnessed the participation of leprosy staff and students from ANMT School, Poonch, who were educated about the symptoms, stigma associated with the disease, and the crucial role of healthcare workers in its elimination.

The program concluded with an interactive session where medical professionals addressed queries and reinforced the commitment to achieving a leprosy-free society.

DC Poonch Reviews Performance of Rural Development Department in the district

Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal, convened a meeting today with concerned officers to assess the current status of construction of Panchayat Ghars and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) works in the district. The meeting took place at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.

During the session, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed block-wise review of all ongoing and completed projects undertaken by the Rural Development Department. Key agenda items discussed included BDC / PRI / DDC works, SBM initiatives, the status of Panchayat Ghars, and other audit parameters.

DC Vikas Kundal directed the ACD and ACP Poonch to ensure regular monitoring of departmental activities. He urged Block Development Officers (BDOs) to actively inspect projects and collaborate with Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs) to guarantee timely project completion. Emphasizing the importance of financial efficiency, he highlighted the need to accelerate fund expenditure and monitor progress to complete works within the stipulated timeframe.

To enhance rural infrastructure and connectivity, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the necessity of adhering strictly to quality standards and developing actionable plans to address implementation gaps.

The meeting was attended by ACD Poonch, ACP Poonch, Executive Engineer (XEN) REW, BDOs, and other concerned officers.

Republic Day was celebrated with pride at the Zonal Education Office (ZEO) Sathra, where Mr. Mushtaq H. Betab, Sr. Assistant, took the salute to the National Flag. All ZNO's officials and staff members were present and actively participated in the national program.

Meanwhile, across Zone Sathra, all the schools under the 13 Guidance Centres, including Guidance Centre Baila, Kehnu, Kalani Fatehpur, Dhara, Azmabad, Atolli + Chella, Dhangri, Saloonia, Sathra, BK Khan, Pindi, and Jandrolla, celebrated Republic Day with great enthusiasm.
