▪In a shocking incident from Sankrail in Howrah district, West Bengal, a woman allegedly forced her husband to sell his kidney and later eloped with her lover, taking the entire sum of money with her.
▪She had convinced her husband to sell his kidney for Rs 10 lakh, citing financial hardship and the need to secure their daughter's education and future marriage expenses.
▪Upon her insistence and trusting her concerns, the man agreed and spent nearly a year searching for a buyer.
▪3 months ago, he finally found a buyer and sold his kidney, believing that the money would help his family escape poverty. He believed that this sacrifice would improve their financial situation and provide a better future for his daughter.
▪However, he was completely unaware of his wife's ulterior motives behind pushing him to take this drastic step.
▪While he was trying to improve their family's financial situation, she was secretly developing a relationship with Ravi Das, a painter from Subhash Colony in Barrackpore, whom she met on Facebook.
▪Eventually, she eloped with Ravi Das taking the money with her and began living with Ravi in Barrackpore.
▪On 31 January 2025, the husband, along with his 10 year old daughter and in-laws, visited the couple’s residence to confront her and persuade her to return.
▪However, Ravi and the woman refused to open the door. When they briefly opened the door, she stated: “Do what you must. I will be sending a divorce letter."
