It may be recalled that the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC), which regulates the power sector in Goa and Union territories, has approved an average hike of 3.5% in the power tariff for 2024-25.

During the raid, which lasted until 11 pm, Nazarov's room was thoroughly searched. The authorities seized crucial electronic devices including an iPhone, two laptops, and other electronic items suspected to be used in online drug trafficking and cryptocurrency transactions.

Nazarov was extensively interrogated during this time at the Crime Branch headquarters in Raibandar, where investigators gathered information about his employment, personal details, and financial transactions linked to bank accounts.

After the interrogation, Nazarov was allowed to remain in his room, but his movements were monitored closely by Crime Branch personnel. Subsequently, Oleg Nazarov filed a pre-arrest bail application at the North Goa District and Sessions Court in Panaji. The court scheduled the next hearing for June 19 to consider his bail plea.

Congress and the Goa Forward Party have criticized Goa police for their insensitive remarks regarding the improper disposal of a stillborn fetus dismissing it as "not serious" discovered near a sluice gate in Mandur's Dongri locality.

"They are body parts of a human being and that too an infant, not spare parts of a rundown vehicle," emphasized GFP chief Vijai Sardesai.

"This is an insensitive remark made by Goa police. Whoever made this statement should be immediately taken off duty," said former state Congress president Girish Chodankar. He continued, "Dr. Pramod Sawant, the Chief Minister of Goa and also the Home Minister, should clarify whether he subscribes to this statement made by Goa police. The DGP should take swift action on this matter."

An offense has been filed at Agasaim police station concerning the undisclosed birth and clandestine disposal of the fetus, with the perpetrator yet to be identified.

At least five people died and over 20 were seriously injured when the Sealdah-bound 13174 Kanchanjungha Express collided with a goods train near New Jalpaiguri on Monday morning.

The accident occurred around 9 am near Rangapani, close to the New Jalpaiguri station, while the Kanchanjungha Express was en route from Agartala to Sealdah.At least two compartments of the Kanchanjunga Express derailed as a result of the collision.

A confrontation between two laborers at Laxmi Nagar Housing Board in Mapusa, resulted in injuries to one of them. The victim, Kamraj Jaman, a 27-year-old native of West Bengal, was taken to the District Hospital in Mapusa for medical treatment. In a tragic incident on Saturday, a tempo traveller carrying over 23 passengers fell into a deep gorge on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district. The accident resulted in the deaths of eight people, with 15 others sustaining injuries, according to State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) commandant Manikant Mishra.

Mishra mentioned that the death toll could rise as several of the injured are in critical condition.
