"Vaccinate Your F&V Business Against Import Rejections"- Workshop at Sahyadri Farms

In today's world, fruits and vegetables are among the most traded in the world with a global market value exceeding $650 billion. This vast industry plays a crucial role in ensuring food security and also an opportunity to access a diverse range of fresh produce for consumers worldwide.

Food importers & exporters spoken to said a key issue was India's inability to fully comply with international norms, such as the ."There is a variance in , resulting in persistent import refusals by regulators such as the FDA.

While the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has attempted to bring some parity with international norms by introducing regulatory regime in place. "The problem also is that there is no traceability down the supply chain for domestic manufacturers, which results in products suffering from quality issues when exported, “Apart from Indian food standards coming up to global norms, there is a need to look into manufacturing and supply-side constraints that companies face in terms of contamination of pathogens or pesticide residues including cold chains maintenance. Other problems like Phytosanitary concerns, food safety issues, quality discrepancies, and labelling errors often lead to costly rejections by importers. These hurdles hinder businesses from accessing lucrative international markets.

But did you know most of the technical rejections by importers can often be prevented with a simple solution?.

Join our workshop to learn how to:
✅ Implement robust agricultural practices to minimize pest and disease risks.
✅ Establish comprehensive food safety programs to ensure product integrity.
✅ Ensure accurate labelling and compliant packaging to meet import standards.
✅ Navigate preapproval programs for smoother import processes.
✅ Build a supportive community of farmers, exporters, and experts to share knowledge and experiences.

Together, with this proactive strategy, the food businesses may prosper in this and guarantee that their fruits and vegetables reach a destination free from technical rejection.

Maintaining them at the right temperature from the moment they are harvested to the point of consumption is crucial in preventing spoilage, retaining flavor, and maximizing shelf life.

Beyond freshness, cold chain equipment is instrumental in ensuring . It helps to prevent the growth of harmful microorganisms that can cause foodborne illnesses. Excellent initiative of APEDA, Indian farmer products got their 'Global Market'

During the interactive session at World Food India 2023 in Delhi, APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev says that along with the crops of the farmers, the products of the farmers i.e. value added products are also equally important which have huge demand in the international markets.

The Government of India's organization APEDA i.e. Agricultural and Process Food Export Development Authority is also leaving no stone unturned in its contribution to the World Food India campaign started by PM Modi to give a new identity to the products of farmers in India at the global level.

PM Modi started it on Friday with the vision that small farmers of India should emerge as powerful. To realize this dream, APEDA's excellent initiative is to create a global market for the products of Indian farmers in India itself.

Around 700 importers from more than 80 countries across the world are participating in the World Food India program being held at Pragati Maidan in Delhi, in front of whom the products of farmers from 15 states of India will be available, which they will be able to buy as per their need.
