founder of Sakha Group, the very first person who started to Organise Singing Events in Delhi. a mechanical engineer by profession in Govt Service, but more known as a pioneer in stage musical events who started organising cultural programs 54 years ago from 1966 onwards when he was only 24 years old. He is a known promoter of young singers through singing competitions through his society SAKHA. A number of singers discovered through these competitions are playback singers now including Sonu Nigam. He is the first person in India who started the tradition of conferring Awards to deserving stage artistes 45 years ago way back in 1974. No other Awards existed at that time in India except Bombay based Filmfare Awards. He is a linguist who holds a diploma in 4 foreign languages- French, German, Spanish, Russian. He is a writer and has written a book on playback singer Mukesh, both in Hindi and English. He used to have regular columns in newspapers like Dainik Hindustan, Evening News, Midday and even wrote in Hindustan Times and on artistes.
He stared Musical Nights in Early Seventees. He is called BHISHM PITAMAHA of music industry and every person respects him by heart. He is the GOD FATHER of this industry. He gave plateform to many singers who are successful in Bollywood now like SONU NIGAM, SUNIDHI CHAUHAN, BABLA, VIPIN SACHDEVA and many others..THANKS TO MR. AMARJIT SINGH KOHLI SIR
