Sri Krishna is the epitome of sweetness, and His pastimes here in Braj are even sweeter. These divine pastimes , filled with love and joy, are so profound that even after spending many lifetimes in Braj, they remain unrevealed to many many.

I Just came across a wonderful thing today which touched my heart which I wish to share with you.

During the Shravan ( Monsoon ) season many insects come out of the forests.Some of them appear very new to us.In Braj there is a special Sharp Red coloured insect which looks like a Red Velvet Mite.This insect is known as “Laal Muni ( Red Saint )” in Braj bhasha.Red because of its colour and Muni because of its legs and arms which look like the dreadlocks of Saints.

As per the Brajvaasis, Krishna named it as “Savan ki Dokri” - The old lady of Shravan because it walks very slow and it comes out in Shravan only.

So, Krishna as a small boy would play with them, He was so attracted by the colour of this insect.Even Krishna would collect many of them into a pot and spread them all around in Nandbhavan.Krishna and other Gopas would even Clap and Jump up and down while watching these insects go here in there, Like Ordinary boys.

So, Because This Insect attracts Krishna, This insect is considered very auspicious.

Even up till Today, The Pujaris in Shrinathji temples in Govardhan and especially in Nathdwara Rajasthan collect these insects into a glass pot and place them infront of Krishna’s Swing ( Jhoola ) when he comes out to swing just to make him happy.

Just imagine the owner of 3 worlds smiling and being so happy just by watching the movements of this little Insect !!

This is the Specialty of Braj !!

PS : I saw this creature here in Govardhan just a few days back and even I was myself so attracted to click this picture.

Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Darshan from Sri Nandbhavan, Nandgaon.

We have a beautiful tradition of dressing them in just black shawls during the winters.The Bagalbandi and Kaachni ( Pyjama ) which they wear is just shawl , no stitching , no tailoring done just the beautiful dressing by the Goswamis.

My Dear Devotees and Lovers of Sri Vrindavan Dham,

Today is the last day of the month of Kartik, Sri Kartik Purnima.I hope that all of you have felt many many blessings during this special month.

Today I just wish to send all of you something which is considered to be the essence of Bhakti specially Braj Bhakti.It is said that beyond this essence there is nothing else for all of us.

The essence is as following:-

सर्वदा सर्वभावेन भजनीयो व्रजाधिप:।
स्वस्यायमेव धर्मो हि नान्य: क्वापि कदाचन।।

Sarvadā sarvabhāvēna bhajanīyō vrajādhipa
Svasyāyamēva dharmō hi nān'ya Kvāpi kadācana

Always worship the King of Braj, Shri Krishna.At every moment, with a feeling of absolute dependence on him, considering that our husband, son, wealth, home, and our only shelter, is Shri Krishna only. This is our sole dharma ( Duty ) and there is no other dharma for us.

Happy Gopashtami to all the Cowherds and To the lovers of Cowherds.

The Gopashtami is the big festival as the owner of 3 worlds starts roaming today onwards behind the cows for the first time just because of his unconditional love for the cows.

In one of the picture you can see how loving Krishna is accepting the cowherding stick from Sri Yashoda Maiya.

It is said in Braj bhasa :

अनुपम पंथ है प्रेम को, जहं ठकुराई नाहिं।
गोपन के पाछे फिरे, त्रिभुवन-पति बन माहिं।।

The Path of love is Unique where no lordship exists.That's why the Lord of 3 worlds roams behind the Cowherd boys in the Forest.

All the cowherds are dearly invited to join Krsna Balaram in their first day of Cowherding ( Smile )
