I had the pleasure of attending the vibrant Barahimizong celebrations along with the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) at Kamling Senior Secondary School, Suldung-Kamling, which showcased the richness of Manger Community’s cultural heritage and traditions.
SKM government remains committed to preserving and promoting our diverse traditions by supporting organizations dedicated to safeguarding cultural and social values.
I congratulate the entire organising committee for successfully organising such a beautiful programme and wish them the best for their future endeavours. Together we all can preserve the rich heritage of all the communities of Sikkim and project Sikkim as an example for cultural preservation.

It was a true delight to attend the State Level Sakewa Celebration 2024 ‘Udhauli’ at Tathang Ground under Yuksam Tashiding Constituency, Gyalshing District.
Udhauli marks the festival of Kirat Khambu Rai where the entire community comes together to celebrate a year of good harvest and expresses gratitude to mother earth through various rituals, dance and offerings.
I was also extremely pleased that the entire Rai community expressed gratitude for the Government’s decision to notify ‘Ubhauli’ too as a restricted holiday. That makes two holidays for Kirat Khambu Rai’s of Sikkim dedicated to their festival.
It was hearwarming to see people coming from all nooks and corner of the state irrespective of their community to celebrate this festival. This truly shows the unity among different communities of Sikkim.
Since the formation of our government like Sakewa, every other community’s festival are celebrated with as much vigour and enthusiasm showcasing the government’s commitment towards preserving, protecting and promoting the rich culture and heritage of our state.
I congratulate the entire Sakewa Celebration Committee for successfully organising the event.
