গতকাল অর্থাৎ ০৭.১১.২০২৪ বৃহস্পতিবার, পশ্চিমবঙ্গের তিনটি লিডিং Anandabazar Patrika, Bartaman Patrika ও Sangbad Pratidin বাংলা পত্রিকায় স্কুলের জমি দখল করে পার্টি অফিস তৈরির খবর প্রকাশিত হয়। তারপরেই নড়েচড়ে বসে সবাই। নিচে দেওয়া তিনটি খবরের জেরে আজ(০৮.১১.২০২৪) সকল ৯ টা নাগাদ মুছে ফেলা হয় পার্টি অফিসের নাম। কিন্তু আজ দুপুর থেকে রাজ্যের কিছু বাংলা ইলেকট্রনিক্স মিডিয়া তারা খবর দেখাতে থাকে স্কুলের জমিতে পার্টি অফিস তৈরির, এবং তার ঘন্টা খানেক পর তারা নিজেদের কৃতিত্ব জাহিরের করে ফের খবরে দেখায় তাদের খবরে জেরেই নাকি পার্টি অফিসের নাম মুছে ফেলা হয়েছে। যদিও যে দল ওই পার্টি অফিসের উদ্বোধন করেছিল তাদের পক্ষ থেকে সকাল ১০ টায় জানানো হয়, আজ অর্থাৎ ০৮.১১.২০২৪ সকাল ৯ টা নাগাদ সেই নাম মুছে ফেলা হয়েছে।

|| We are concerned over the arrest of Imran Khan, a journalist in Ghaziabad, UP for his reportage.

His reportage was based on the coverage of an opposition leader’s press conference during the Lok Sabha election 2024.

At the complaint of the local MP months after the election, the filed an FIR about a month back and arrested him this morning.

Shooting the messenger has now become a new normal across the country. We urge the to senitise the police personnel with regard to the functioning and workings of the journalists. ||

In today’s fast-paced digital world, the media plays a crucial role in informing and shaping public opinion. However, the rise of yellow journalism and paid news has become a concerning issue, impacting the credibility of information and creating confusion among people.

Yellow journalism refers to the practice of presenting sensational, exaggerated, or misleading news to attract more readers or viewers. It often prioritizes shock value over factual accuracy, leading to the spread of rumors and half-truths. This form of journalism can manipulate public sentiment, create unnecessary panic, or tarnish the reputation of individuals or organizations without substantial evidence.

Paid news involves publishing articles or content in exchange for money or other benefits, without disclosing the commercial agreement to the audience. This unethical practice undermines the integrity of journalism, as news becomes biased and favors those who can afford to pay for positive coverage. It misleads the public by presenting sponsored content as genuine news, blurring the line between advertising and objective reporting.

Yellow journalism and paid news threaten the foundation of truthful reporting and informed decision-making in society. As responsible citizens, we must remain vigilant, question dubious content, and advocate for honest, unbiased journalism.

The Domkal Press Association ( ) wishes to bring to your attention a pressing concern that undermines the integrity of journalism and erodes public trust: the pervasive presence and insidious activities of paid news and yellow journalism. The DPA urges all peoples to be vigilant and beware of paid news and yellow journalism.

Let’s work together to prevent the spread of misinformation and uphold the values of a free and fair press.

||সতর্কীকরণ ও সতর্কবার্তা||

সংবাদমাধ্যমের ভূমিকা সত্য উদঘাটন এবং জনমত গঠনের জন্য অপরিহার্য। কিন্তু দুঃখজনকভাবে, ডোমকল মহকুমায় সাংবাদিকতার নামে অনৈতিক কর্মকাণ্ড উদ্বেগজনক ভাবে বেড়ে চলেছে। যা সংবাদমাধ্যমের নীতি নৈতিকতা ও স্বাধীনতাকে হুমকির মুখে ফেলেছে। সাংবাদিকতার নামে অনৈতিক কর্মকাণ্ডের বিরুদ্ধে সাধারণ মানুষকে সতর্ক হওয়ার আহ্বান জানাচ্ছি।

বর্তমানে সংবাদ ও সাংবাদিকতার নামে অর্থ, হুমকি, সম্মানহানি ও চরিত্রহনের অভিযোগ সামনে এসেছে। কতিপয় ব্যক্তি ও গোষ্ঠী ব্যক্তিগত এবং আর্থিক স্বার্থসিদ্ধির জন্য 'সংবাদমাধ্যম'কে হাতিয়ার হিসেবে ব্যবহার করছেন। সংবাদের নামে অনৈতিক ভাবে অর্থ দাবি ও হুমকি দিচ্ছেন বলে অভিযোগ। এমনকি মাথা চাড়া দিয়েছে হলুদ সাংবাদিকতাও। সংবাদে উত্তেজক শিরোনাম, অতিরঞ্জিত তথ্য বা ভিত্তিহীন গুজব ছড়িয়ে মানুষকে আকৃষ্ট করার চেষ্টা হচ্ছে।

একশ্রেণীর তথাকথিত সাংবাদিক (ইউটিউব-ফেসবুক) সংবাদমাধ্যমের বিশ্বাসযোগ্যতা ক্ষুণ্ন করার আপ্রাণ চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে। এসমস্ত অনৈতিক কর্মকাণ্ড নিরপেক্ষ ও দায়িত্বশীল সাংবাদিকতার পরিপন্থী। এমনকি সংবাদমাধ্যমের নিরপেক্ষতা ও স্বাধীনতাকে প্রশ্নের মুখে ফেলেছে। জনসাধারণের প্রতি আহ্বান, হলুদ সাংবাদিকতার বিরুদ্ধে সজাগ ও সচেতন হোন। এমন অনৈতিক কর্মকাণ্ড নজরে আসলে দ্রুত অভিযোগ জানান।

Journalist bodies condemn hounding of journalist Mahesh Langa.

We — IWPC, Press Association, Delhi Union of Journalists and Kerala Union of Working Journalists, —condemn the registration of a second FIR by
the Gujarat police against senior journalist Mahesh Langa in a span of less than a month.

We appeal and demand that the FIR be withdrawn and the harassment caused to Mahesh Langa be ceased forthwith.

We also call upon the Press Council of India to step in and perform its mandate of safeguarding the freedom of the press.
