The Kailasa temple stands tall at 300 feet long and 175 feet wide, carved intricately out of a towering scarp over 100 feet high.

Ambubachi Mela is one of the largest gatherings in eastern India and the most significant festival at the Kamakhya Temple, held every June. This festival is marked by rituals of austerity and Shakti rites, honoring Kamakhya as the embodiment of the mother cult, Shakti.

From the seventh to the tenth day of the Hindu month of "Asadha," the temple doors close, as it is believed that Goddess Kamakhya undergoes her annual menstruation cycle. On the twelfth day, the temple doors reopen with a ceremonial celebration, followed by a large fair on the temple grounds.
