Over the years, batches of students have come and left, but one thing has remained almost the same – the leafy environs in which they all studied. As one of the few outposts of green in a bustling city, the campus has been a haven for a variety of species. However, this might be beginning to change.
This special edition about the Biodiversity in our institute will take you through the story behind our green campus, home not only to a vibrant student community but also a stunning multitude of flora and fauna. As the culmination of three years of observing this campus at close quarters, the article takes a long term look at all of the changes that have occurred to the campus biodiversity over time.

Protests againt Violence in JMI University and AMU
Last night, a few students of IIT Bombay gathered at the SOM Well at 11 pm. They were part of a protest rally organized against the violence perpetrated on students in Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMIU) and the Aligarh Muslim University(AMU). Around 11 PM, 40+ students gathered at the venue and marched with torches from the Shailesh J Mehta School of Management to the Main Gate and back. The rally concluded with a few speeches by the students. Students present at the location informed us that information about the rally was circulated through Whatsapp.
After the rally, APPSC, an unofficial group that operates within the campus, issued a statement condemning the unauthorized intrusion and violence of police inside the JMIU campus. Although the protest was not said to be organized by any particular body, the members of APPSC and some other groups were said to be an active part of it.
Pictures of the rally have been circulated all over the internet. With #IITBombay being among the trending topics on Twitter in India, thousands of tweets linking IIT Bombay to the heated debate taking place in the nation were made.
It is important to note that no survey has been conducted to gauge the opinion of IIT Bombay students on the CAB issue and that no official student body or administrative body was responsible for organising this rally.

Heeding to a few queries, here's a step by step guide to add yourself to IDF. Note that this group is a closed community within IIT Bombay and one will need a working IITB email id to join the group.
In order to channel discussions relevant to you, provide a platform to discuss all you deem important and act as a hub for exchanging opinions related to the happenings in the institute and policies that affect us at large, we have created a discussion forum on facebook in similar lines as the Insight Google group. The group is meant for students of IITB only.
