MEERUT had been the main centre of first freedom war of INDIA against BRITAIN during the year of 1857 .The revolution began from Meerut during those days.Freedom fighters soon captured Delhi and all surrounding areas . They declared Mughal Badshah Bahadur Shah Jafar as their king and samraat of Delhi. World famous Narora atomic power plant is also situated in this region.
