*Kulgam Police attaches illegal property worth 1.43 crore of drug peddlers involved in multiple cases of drug peddling*

*June 14:* Continuing its action against drug peddlers, Kulgam Police attached properties (Double storied residential house measuring 1093.50 Sq ft and Cowshed measuring 437.25 Sq ft (both valuing 70 lakhs approx) belonging to drug peddler namely *Bashir Ahmad Ganie Son of Mohd Ahsan Ganie a resident of Nassu Badragund, Qazigund* presently lodged in central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu under PIT NDPS act.
and newly constructed Two storied Residential house (valuing 73 lakhs approx) of *Ghulam Nabi Kuttay Son of Abdul Aziz Kuttay resident of Kaladrund, Frisal*, presently under Police custody.

The actions were taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 & are linked with case FIR no 40/2023 U/S 8/15 of NDPS act of Police Station Qazigund and FIR No. 26/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act of Police Station Yaripora, respectively.

The properties were identified as illegally acquired properties during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Kulgam Police. The properties were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic drug and Psychotropic substances by the above mentioned drug peddlers.

This operation reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area hailed the initiative of Police.

Training Session for OMR-based Examination conducted at Kulgam

KULGAM, JUNE 12:

A comprehensive training session for Superintendents and Deputy Superintendents responsible for overseeing the upcoming OMR-based examination for the posts of Supervisor in the Social Welfare Department was conducted today at Kulgam.

The training was imparted by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vikar Ahmad Giri, who also serves as the Chief Inspector, along with a representative from the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB).

The examination is scheduled to be held on June 23, 2024, across 25 examination centers in District Kulgam. A total of 6739 candidates are expected to appear for the examination.

During the training session, strict instructions were reiterated to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.

It was emphasized that electronic gadgets will not be allowed inside the examination centers.

Candidates are also reminded to bring one passport size photograph along with them on the day of the examination.

DC Kulgam chairs monthly DLC meeting under NCORD

KULGAM, JUNE 12:

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan today chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee (DLC) under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to discuss measures aimed at curbing drug abuse and the narcotic trade in the district.

The meeting thoroughly reviewed the actions taken by concerned departments to combat the drug menace. It was shared that 16 Panchayats have been declared drug-free in the district so far.

Additionally, it was reported that 15 drug peddlers were arrested, and 12 FIRs were registered during the current month.

The DC instructed the concerned authorities to convene regular meetings of Tehsil and Gram Panchayat level committees.

He emphasized the implementation of stringent measures to ensure zero cultivation of illicit crops in the district.

The Social Welfare Department was tasked with formulating a comprehensive plan for impactful awareness programs and providing necessary training to the already constituted Panchayat Level Committees.

They were directed to devise a training schedule on a Tehsil-wise basis.

The Assistant Drug Controller reported on the recent inspections of pharmacies, with 67 inspections conducted during the current month. Notably, it was mentioned that a 100% target had been achieved in the installation of CCTV cameras.
The DC directed to achieve a 100% target in CBS (Control Board System) by the end of this month.

Furthermore, the Assistant Drug Controller was instructed to intensify pharmacy inspections and cancel the licenses of those not adhering to the guidelines.

The meeting was attended by ADC Viqar Ahmed Giri, ACD Syed Naseer, ACR Mushtaq Ahmad, SDM Noorabad Bashir Ul Hassan, ACP Nazia Hassan, DSP HQ, and other officers from police and civil administration.

Vessu Pandit Colony welfare committe Welcomes Pilgrims for Zesht Ashtami Celebrations at Mata Kherbawani

Kulgam, June 12: The Vessu Pandit welfare committe has warmly welcomed a large number of pilgrims across the country arriving to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Zesht Ashtami at the revered Mata Kherbawani shrine and many other places across Jammu and Kashmir which includes Devsar and Manzgam in Kulgam District. This annual event, which holds great significance in the Kashmiri Pandit community, is marked by prayers, rituals, and cultural performances.

Mata Kherbawani, a symbol of divine grace, attracts devotees from all over the region who come to seek blessings and participate in the spiritual festivities. The shrine, adorned with flowers and lights, provided a serene and holy atmosphere for the worshippers.

Local authorities and community leaders have made extensive arrangements to ensure the safety and comfort of the pilgrims. Facilities including accommodation, medical aid, and security have been put in place to manage the influx of visitors.

The Zesht Ashtami celebrations at Mata Kherbawani are expected to continue throughout the day on 14th june, culminating in a grand evening prayer session. Pilgrims are hopeful that their prayers will be answered and look forward to returning next year to seek the blessings of Mata Kherbawani once again.

*Kupwara - Recovered Stolen and Lost Mobile Phones returned to Rightful Owners*

In a first of its kind initiative, District Police Kupwara launched a public friendly operation to recover lost and stolen mobile phones to be returned to their rightful owners.

All pending complaints of such nature were worked out and phones stolen / lost as long ago as 2022 were recovered from across the UT including from other parts of the country such as Haryana.

Today, 14 such recovered mobiles were then handed over to their owners by the Police at DPO.

The owners expressed their happiness at getting their phones back which they had purchased with their hard earned money.

Kupwara Police has urged all to consider police as their friends and approach with their issues which will be expeditiously resolved.

Kulgam 12 june : Director Urban Local Bodies, Ms. Mathoora Masoom, along with EO Municipal Committee Devsar Aabid Afzal conducted an extensive review of the arrangements for the upcoming Zesht Ashtami celebrations at the Tripursundri Mata Temple in Devsar Kulgam. During her visit, she assessed the various preparations and expressed her satisfaction with the current state of arrangements.

Ms. Masoom stated, "All arrangements are up to date, ensuring a smooth and successful observance of Zesht Ashtami. The efforts of the local administration in organizing and maintaining the facilities are commendable."

The review included inspections of sanitation facilities, security measures, and accommodations for the devotees. Ms. Masoom emphasized the importance of a seamless experience for the pilgrims and highlighted the dedication of the team involved in the preparations.

Shopping complex in the main town of Anantnag is under construction for the last two decades as the administration failed to complete it in this period. Urban Local Bodies took over the construction of the shopping complex in 2005 and stopped the work in 2009 saying that funds for the project were stopped.Then again work on the project was later resumed in 2015 but abandoned again a few years ago. People and Shopkeepers urges LG Manoj Sinha should look into the matter and execute the remaining work on the complex as soon as possible.
