Acoustic and electronic music both work by manipulating the physical properties of the instrument they use. The former uses direct physical force (direct from a human or through indirect means like pressurized air) and the other uses electric voltages to manipulate the physical state of components. The resulting audio is a direct result of these physical interactions. An analog electronic instrument is one that tries to mimic the physical interactions happening in an acoustic instrument using electronic components and voltages.

Digital instruments on the other hand uses theoretical equations that govern the interactions in physical domain and changes the values of the parameters of the equations as numbers to produce an analog of the interaction.

So how are modern digital instruments more analog than "analog"? Read the article!

I came upon the realization that digital synthesis in the modern age was actually more analog than analog electronics. I’m going to make that case here.
