*Cold Wave Alert*

A severe cold wave is expected to grip Jammu and Kashmir over the next three days, with nighttime temperatures likely to remain 4 to 8°C below average.

Although not part of the forecast made by weather models, I believe there is a possibility that low-level clouds might develop during the morning hours and persist until the afternoon, particularly in the plains of Kashmir.

Pure drama”: National Conference slams party MP Aga Ruhullah for leading student protest
National Conference leader and MLA Hazratbal, Salman Ali Sagar Tuesday expressed strong dismay over the protest led by party’s own Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah over reservation policy row. The protest was also joined by several opposition leaders and legislators.
Rivals exploited Aga Ruhullah’s presence to create "Tamasha", a spectacle
He emphasized that the protest was neither sanctioned by the NC headquarters nor its leadership, dismissing claims of internal discord.
This was in no way an NC vs. NC situation. Aga Ruhullah participated in a personal capacity and as an MP. Unfortunately, individuals from rival parties like the PDP, who have a history of opposing us at every step, whether our initiatives are in the public's interest or not, seized the opportunity to create chaos,” he said.
Salman Sagar clarified that any protests organized under the NC banner are always directed by the Party President, Vice President or General Secretary.
This was nothing but a spectacle staged by our adversaries and it’s unfortunate that Aga Ruhullah’s involvement inadvertently gave them a platform for mischief

Aga Ruhullah Reacts Sharply to NC Leader's Remarks, Draws Historical Parallels
Hours after National Conference (NC) leader Salman Ali Sagar termed Member of Parliament (MP) Agha Ruhullah Mehdi’s protest against reservations as a “pure drama,” the MP from Srinagar took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond. Quoting civil rights leader Malcolm X, Ruhullah drew a sharp analogy between historical injustices and the present political discourse.

In his post, the MP shared an excerpt from Malcolm X's famous speech, "The House Negro and the Field Negro," which highlights the divide between those who align themselves with oppressive systems and those who resist. The tweet read.
Back during slavery, when Black people like me talked to the slaves, they didn't kill 'em, they sent some old house Negro along behind him to undo what he said. There were two kinds of Negroes – the house Negro and the field Negro. The house Negro always looked out for his master... And today, you still have house Negroes and field Negroes.

I'm a field Negro."

While the quote is rooted in the context of slavery, the MP's use of it seems to suggest a criticism of political figures who, according to him, align with oppressive systems for personal gain rather than standing with the people. His post ignited a heated debate online, with many interpreting it as a direct rebuttal to Salman Ali Sagar's remarks.

Political analysts believe this exchange reflects a deeper ideological rift within National Conference, with leaders taking contrasting stands on sensitive issues like reservation policies.
The historical parallel drawn by Ruhullah indicates his positioning as someone who claims to advocate for the marginalized, standing in opposition to those he perceives as complicit in systemic inequalities

PHDCCI Kashmir Engages in Productive Meeting with Canara Bank Management*

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kashmir region) recently held an interactive meeting with the top management of Canara Bank at the SKICC. The delegation from PHDCCI was led by Co-Chair Mr. Himayu Wani, accompanied by Convenor of Infrastructure & Real-estate Mr. Haleem Bhat, Co-Convenor of the Banking and Taxation Committee Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, and Deputy Director PHDCCI Mr. Iqbal Fayaz Jan.

The meeting served as a platform to discuss the various products and lending schemes offered by Canara Bank. During the discussions, the PHDCCI emphasized the need for special customized lending norms tailored for the unique business environment of Kashmir. It was highlighted that JK Bank, as the lead bank in the region, has been instrumental in providing maximum credit to local entrepreneurs. In light of this, the Chamber urged Canara Bank to consider offering specialized and unique services to attract more entrepreneurs to their platform.

Furthermore, the delegation stressed the importance of adopting a more liberal approach towards the credit and CIBIL scores of existing entrepreneurs, ensuring that they receive the necessary support to thrive in their ventures.

The General Manager of Canara Bank assured the delegation of the bank’s commitment to providing all necessary assistance and facilitating ease of lending for entrepreneurs in the region. This positive response is a testament to the efforts of the PHDCCI, which has advocated for increased lending by nationalized banks in Kashmir at various platforms, including meetings with parliamentary delegations and central and UT government officials.

The interest shown by nationalized and private banks in expanding their lending operations in Kashmir is a welcome development. The PHDCCI is encouraged by Canara Bank’s willingness to engage and support the entrepreneurial spirit in the region, paving the way for enhanced economic growth and development.

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, but make allowance for their doubting too.
