KATRA, JUNE 24;Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha chaired the historic 75th Meeting of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), at Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra, today.

The meeting was attended by the newly constituted Board, comprising members including Mahamandleshwar Shri Swami Vishveshvaranand Giriji Maharaj, Shri Baleshwar Rai, Dr. Ashok Bhan, Smt. Sudha Murty, Smt. Gunjan Rana, Dr. K.K. Talwar, Shri Kulbhushan Ahuja, Shri Lalit Bhasin and Shri Suresh Kumar Sharma.

Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor and Shri Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB also attended the meeting.

The Lieutenant Governor extended a warm welcome to the new members of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, highlighting the trust and responsibility entrusted to them. He underscored the Board's crucial role in managing the Shrine and preserving its spiritual and cultural heritage.

The Lieutenant Governor expressed confidence that the new members would make significant contributions to the Board's initiatives, furthering its objectives and enhancing the Shrine's stature.

He also acknowledged the dedicated services and significant contributions of former Board Members, and appreciated their valuable contribution in the decision-making processes during their tenure.

The Board conducted a comprehensive review of its past decisions; ratified actions taken since the last meeting and made several key decisions on 21 significant agenda items having far-reaching implications for the Board's functioning and enhancement of pilgrim services.

Central University of Jammu (CUJ) Bags Top Honor for Excellence in Higher Education at Government Achievements & Schemes Expo-2025 in New Delhi

Jammu, 24 June 2025: The Central University of Jammu (CUJ) has brought laurels to the region by securing first place in the “Excellence in Higher Education” category at the prestigious Government Achievements & Schemes Expo 2025, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from 20th to 23rd June 2025. A grand and dignified felicitation ceremony was organized by Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, Raipur (Thather), Jammu & Kashmir, at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. In this event, Shri Arun Gupta, the newly elected President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, was honored for his historic third-time victory. This honor symbolizes the remarkable work being carried out by the Chamber under his leadership and the trust he commands among the business community.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱: Continuing its firm crackdown on drug peddling, Police Station Katra achieved a major success by apprehending a drug smuggler and recovering narcotic substances from his possession.

Acting on reliable input, a police team from P/S Katra apprehended one person in the Nangal area. The accused has been identified as Pankaj Sharma S/O Omkar Sharma R/O Jatwal, Tehsil Ghagwal, District Samba.

During his personal search, 5.190 grams of he**in (NDPS) along with a small digital weighing scale was recovered from his possession.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 170/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway to unearth the backward and forward linkages of the drug network.

The operation was executed under the leadership of 𝗦𝗛𝗢 𝗣/𝗦 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽. 𝗞𝗵𝘆𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗗𝗣𝗢 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗿. 𝗕𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺 𝗗𝘂𝗯𝗲𝘆, 𝗝𝗞𝗣𝗦 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗣 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝗵. 𝗩𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗻-𝗝𝗞𝗣𝗦.
