Kathua admin discusses modalities for upcoming special Saturation Campaign for Jan suraksha schemes

Kathua, November 05 : A crucial meeting to strategize the upcoming 3-month Saturation Campaign for Jansuraksha Schemes — Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) — was conducted today under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Surinder Mohan. The campaign is set to run from 15th October 2024 to 25th January 2025.

The meeting emphasized developing robust strategies to boost enrollment and spread widespread awareness of the schemes' advantages. The ultimate goal is to strengthen financial security and promote social welfare throughout the district.

A key focus was on the necessity of comprehensive planning at the Gram Panchayat level. It was decided that Village Level Workers, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers would play a pivotal role in the campaign. Their efforts will be supported by Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and social workers to ensure every eligible individual is covered under these social security schemes.

ADDC Surinder Mohan directed the implementation of Panchayat-level activity calendars. According to the plan, banks and financial institutions will organize activities across various Panchayats to facilitate the enrollment of beneficiaries. Emphasizing the campaign's importance, the ADDC Kathua urged all stakeholder departments to treat this initiative as a landmark effort to ensure social security for all citizens by connecting them with banking and insurance services.

Besides, it was decided that daily updates on the campaign's progress would be submitted by all banks to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kathua without exception.

The meeting underscored the commitment of all involved to make the campaign a resounding success, ensuring financial inclusion and protection for every eligible resident of the district.

DC Kathua Reviews asset creation works under DMFT Funds

Kathua, November 5 : Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, today chaired a meeting of the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) to review and discuss the progress of asset creation works undertaken by various stakeholders. The meeting focused on the strategic utilization of DMFT funds in accordance with the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) guidelines.

The meeting featured comprehensive discussions on maximizing the impact of available funds. One of the key decisions was to establish new synthetic courts in Bhoond and Mandli to enhance sports infrastructure in these areas, promoting youth engagement in athletics and recreation.

Another significant project approved during the meeting was the rejuvenation of a pond in Chhan Arorian. The revitalization will include the development of surrounding amenities, transforming the water body into a vital community asset and promoting environmental conservation.

The meeting also highlighted the intention to create additional assets in sectors such as education, sanitation, health, social welfare, labor, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and Public Works Department (PWD). These projects will address critical infrastructure needs and provide immediate solutions to pressing issues in the district.

Emphasizing the effective use of DMFT funds, Dr. Rakesh Minhas directed stakeholders to prioritize high-impact areas, including drinking water supply, construction of check dams, water recharge structures, playgrounds, and new classrooms in schools, particularly in mining-affected regions of Kathua district.

The meeting was attended by ACD, CPO, (SE) PWD, DMO (Member Secretary), CMO, CAO, CEO, DSWO; and other DMFT members.
