KATHUA; 04 DEC:- Cracking a whip on illegal mining and transportation of minerals, J&K Police Kathua seized 02 vehicles ( 02 Dumpers) indulged in illegal mining at Hatli area.

On 04.12.2024 A Police team of PP Hatli under the guidance of DySP Hqrs Kathua and SHO PS Kathua during patrolling/checking in its jurisdictional area at Hatli seized two Dumpers bearing Reg. Nos. PB06BE-9599 & JK08M-1348 indulged in illegal mining(extraction of minerals) without any legal permission. Meanwhile said dumpers indulged in illegal mining were seized & immediately handed over to the officials of the Geological and Mining department Kathua.

01 MISSING LADY REUNITED WITH HER FAMILY MEMBERS BY J&K POLICE KATHUA

KATHUA; 04 DEC:- J&K Police Kathua reunited one missing lady with her family members in the Jurisdiction of PP Industrial Estates Kathua.
An information was received at PP Industrial Estate Kathua about the missing of a lady namely Parmar Jyotisena W/O Varinder Singh Age -23 years R/O Ward No.14 Sawan chack Kathua whose missing report was entered at PP Industrial Estate Kathua vide DD No.14 Dated 09/06/2024
Acting upon this, A Police Team of PP Industrial Estate Kathua led by IC PP Hatli under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kathua and SHO PS Kathua put strenuous efforts and with the help of technical assistance as well as human intervention traced out the missing lady and after completing all legal formalities the said lady has been handed over to her legal heirs.Accordingly missing report has been closed vide DD No.16 dated 04/12/2024.

Block Diwas: DC Kathua listen’s public grievances at Marhoon -Billawar

Kathua, December 4: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr. Rakesh Minhas, led the Block Diwas proceedings held today at Government High School (GHS) Marhoon in Billawar, engaging with local residents and officials.

The event witnessed the participation of DDC Billawar Bikram Singh, DDC Nagrota Gujroo Narayan Dutt Tripathi, ADC Billawar Vinay Khosla, ADC Kathua Ranjit Singh, CPO Kathua Ranjit Thakur, ACD Akhil Sadotra, and other senior officers, including XEN PHE, XEN PWD Billawar, XEN PMGSY Billawar, CEO Kathua, District Ayush Officer, and various district and sectoral officers.

The local representatives highlighted several pressing demands, including the upgradation of GHS Marhoon to GHSS, conversion of the local sub-center into a Primary Health Care facility, construction of the Malhad-to-Marhoon road, establishment of ration depots in Wards 3 and 6 of Malhad, and addressing issues such as water scarcity, old age and widow pensions, and other concerns of nearby Panchayats like Malhad.

DC Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, gave a patient hearing to the public grievances and assured timely redressal. Regarding the upgradation of GHS Marhoon and the sub-center, he informed that feasibility reports have already been submitted and assured expedited action. He further announced the allocation of ₹10 lakh for the construction of a shed on the Dhola Jhode trek to boost local tourism.

On the issue of the Malhad-Marhoon road, Dr. Minhas informed the locals that forest clearance will be completed by the end of the month. He directed the concerned departments to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for other road projects and assured their timely approval and ex*****on. He also assured inhabitants for considering their demand of opening ration shops in Wards 3 and 6 soon.

Taking cognisance of the wrongly categorised Ration categories to members of SC/ ST community, the DC directed AD FC& CA to take appropriate corrective measures on merit.

The DC urged various departments to organize awareness camps to enroll eligible beneficiaries under government schemes. He called upon locals to assist security forces in maintaining peace and prosperity in the region.

DDC Billawar Bikram Singh apprised the locals about various developmental works being undertaken in the Marhoon area. He emphasized the need for improved road connectivity, particularly the Majnu-Chew-Marhoon-Noag stretch, and urged government employees to discharge their duties with sincerity.

DDC Nagrota Gujroo Narayan Dutt Tripathi appealed to the locals to cooperate with government employees to ensure proper implementation of government schemes. He also encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and actively monitor the progress of developmental projects in their area.

Earlier, XEN PHE, AD Food and Supplies, AEE JKPDCL, and other officers sensitized the locals about various schemes and initiatives of their respective departments.

Later, the DC Kathua inspected ongoing construction work of Billawar Cafeteria coming up at Tandi with an estimated cost of Rs 13 Lac under CAPEX. The Cafeteria will be completed by ending December this year going to benefit locals and visiting Tourists.

Water Quality Monitoring and Awareness Stall Set Up in RS pura Town, Jammu on 04th of December, 2024.

RS Pura, Jammu – A water quality monitoring exercise was conducted today in RS Pura Town using the FTK (Field Test Kit) to assess the safety of local water sources. The initiative, led by the Executive Engineer of the PHE Rural Division ER. Rashpal Singh and AE DPMU Jammu ER. Shubam Gupta, included the active participation of laboratory staff and other key officers.

In addition to the water testing, a stall was set up to raise awareness among the public about the importance of water quality. The stall provided valuable information on safe drinking water practices and the benefits of regular water testing. This initiative highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring safe and clean water for all residents.

APPROX. 08 QUINTALS OF KHAIR WOOD LOGS RECOVERED/ SEIZED BY J&K POLICE KATHUA AT NHW RAJBAGH & SEIZED 01 MAHINDRA LOAD CARRIER INVOLVED.

KATHUA; 04 DEC:- J&K Police Kathua seized one Mahindra Load Carrier vehicle laden with "Khair Wood" logs (weighing approx.08 Quintals) in the jurisdictional area of PS Rajbagh which were allegedly being smuggled from NHW Rajbagh area and 01 person was arrested alongwith the said vehicle which was seized in this connection.
On 03.12.2024 an information was received at PS Rajbagh through reliable sources that one vehicle is indulged in the Smuggling/Theft of Banned Wood (Khair) of Forest Produce, and doing the illegal "Trade of Smuggling" of Wood(Khair) without any valid document and permission which is loaded in a vehicle (Mahindra Load Carrier) bearing Reg. No. JK08E-7032 and proceeding towards the NHW Rajbagh side.

Following a tip off about the smuggling of Khair wood, the police team of PS Rajbagh under the guidance of SDPO Border and SHO PS Rajbagh laid a naka and intercepted the said vehicle bearing Reg. No. JK08E-7032 which was driven by a person namely 1. Ashok Kumar S/o Krishan Lal R/o Salalpur Tehsil Marheen District Kathua who was indulged in smuggling of Khair Wood. During checking it was found that the said vehicle was laden with approx. 08 quintals of Khair Wood logs, when asked for any valid permission the accused person could not produce any document related to the sale and purchase of the khair wood and therefore, the recovered Khair wood logs (weighing approx. 08 quintals) alongwith said vehicle was seized and 01 person was arrested on the spot. A case vide FIR No. 253/2024 U/S 303(2) BNS, 26/33 Forest Act was registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation was taken up.

"Eat Healthy and Stay Healthy" Lecture Organized by Department of Home Science, GDC Kathua
The Department of Home Science at Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized a thought-provoking lecture on the theme "Eat Healthy and Stay Healthy” on 4th December 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness about healthy eating practices among teaching and non-teaching faculty members.
Prof. Ashwani Khajuria, Associate Professor in the Department of Food Science Technology at GCW Kathua, served as the esteemed resource person for the session. His expertise and insights into balanced diets, nutrition, and sustainable eating habits left a lasting impression on the attendees.
The program began with a formal welcome address delivered by Ms. Shivani Sawhney, Assistant Professor in the Department of Home Science. Principal Prof. Seema Mir graced the occasion and emphasized the importance of a balanced diet in maintaining physical and mental well-being. She also appreciated the efforts of the Department of Home Science and IQAC for organizing such a meaningful event that promotes holistic health.
The lecture, organized under the headship of Prof. Neelam Bhagat, Head of the Department of Home Science, highlighted the significance of making informed dietary choices and adopting a healthy lifestyle. Prof. Khajuria provided practical strategies for incorporating nutritious foods into daily routines and discussed the role of nutrition in preventing lifestyle-related diseases.
The organizing committee comprised of Prof. Neelam Bhagat, Ms. Shivani Sawhney, Dr. Sabahat and Dr. Saveela and non teaching staff of the department.
The event saw the active participation of Prof. Ravinder Kour, IQAC Coordinator, senior faculty members. Prof. R.K. Pandita, Dr. R.K. Manhas, Dr. Ram Singh and numerous teaching and non-teaching staff, reflecting the broad appeal and relevance of the topic.
The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sabahat, who acknowledged the efforts of all participants, organizers, and attendees for making the event a success.

Kathua; 03 December: J&K Police Kathua today attached property worth Rs. 1.08 Crore belonging to three drug peddlers in the Kathua district under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act).
The property was identified as an illegally acquired property, during the course of the investigation and inquiry conducted by SHO PS Rajbagh Insp. Rajeshwar Slathia under the command & guidance of SDPO Border Sh. Dheeraj Singh Katoch under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena -IPS froze the immovable property of three accused persons namely:
1. Raj Wali@ Sher Ali@ Shidu@ S/O Sattar Din R/O Jagatpur Maggar Khad Lakhanpur District Kathua. (Value of freezed house 31.10 Lacs)
2. Bagh Hussain S/O Lal Hussain R/O Maggar Khad Lakhanpur, Kathua(Value of freezed house 47.73 Lacs)
3. Bagh Hussain S/O Mir Ali R/O Maggarkhad Lakhanpur, Kathua (Value of freezed house 29.34 Lacs). The Total value of all the three houses is 1.08 crore.The action against the accused persons is taken U/S 68F read with section 68E of NDPS Act. As during investigation of case FIR No 30/2023 U/S 8/21/22/29 of NDPS act it was surfaced that the property which has been acquired is as a result of proceeds of Narcotics.
As the property was, prima facie, acquired by the owners from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The said drug peddlers were involved in the said case and action was taken U/S 68(E) & 68 (F) of NDPS Act of 1985.
This action of the J&K Police Kathua is the part of relentless efforts to curb the menace of drug peddling in the Kathua district.This action reaffirms the commitment of District Police Kathua to combat the drug menace.

Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of the Kathua police with regard to the attachment of immoveable property that has been raised or used for illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Kathua district.

MLA Bani Inaugurates first-ever Tilhan Mela at Bani

Kathua, December 01: Member of Legislative Assembly, Bani Constituency, Rameshwar Singh, inaugurated the first-ever “Tilhan Mela”, the other day organized by the Department of Agriculture Kathua under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).

The Mela was orgainsed to promote millet cultivation and modern farming techniques, witnessed enthusiastic participation from the farming community of the region.

Sub Divisional Magistrate Bani, Sh. Ghias-ul-Haq, Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua, Sanjeev Rai Gupta Tehsildar Bani, Pradyuman Atri; and several officers and officials from agriculture and allied departments.

Addressing a large gathering of farmers, Rameshwar Singh appreciated the Department of Agriculture Kathua for its efforts in advancing agricultural practices in the Bani constituency. He highlighted the upcoming key projects, including the Lavender Farm at Challah, the Potato Seed Development Farm, and the Apiculture Demonstration Centre at Sarthal, emphasizing their potential to modernize farming practices, boost farmers’ incomes, and generate employment opportunities in the region.

The MLA urged the farming community to embrace agriculture as a viable entrepreneurship opportunity with the department's support and advised against selling agricultural land.

The “Tilhan Mela” showcased the significance of millets in daily diets and promoted the adoption of advanced farming techniques for enhanced productivity and value addition. Impressive display stalls by the Department of Agriculture and allied departments provided insights into modern technologies and sustainable practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua Sanjeev Rai Gupta, elaborated on the importance of schemes like the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme in Bani. He highlighted the potential of the region for exotic vegetable production and niche crops such as Rajma, Hill Garlic, Onion, Potato, and Off-Season Mushroom.

“These Melas help deliver farmer-friendly technologies, develop scientific temper, and encourage sustainable crop intensification practices. I urge farmers to stay connected with extension workers to enhance their farm profits,” he said.

Among others, District Agriculture Officer, Extension Murari Lal, SDAO Basohli Rohit Singh Baloria, SMS Basohli Devinder Singh SMS Kathua Ravi Singg, as well as AEOs, JAEOs, and officials from agriculture and allied departments were also present.

J&K POLICE KATHUA SEIZED 06 TRUCKS LOADED WITH ILLICIT FIREWOOD IN HARIACHAK AREA OF PP MARHEEN

KATHUA, NOVEMBER 29: J&K Police Kathua seized 06 trucks loaded with illicit firewood from HariaChak area of PP Marheen during late night naka checking.

During the intervening night of 28-29/11/2024, police team of PP Marheen during late night naka checking, intercepted 06 Trucks bearing registration numbers JK02CB-3699, JK02AL-5315, JK12 A-1550, JK11F-9584, JK02CA-7687, and JK14E-6042 respectively.
On their checking, the Vehicles were found loaded with illicit Firewood.
On questioning the drivers of the vehicles failed to produce any valid documents regarding the ownership as well as the transportation permission of the forest produce loaded in the trucks.
Consequently, the trucks along with forest produce was seized on the spot and handed over to the Forest Department Officials for further action.
The operation was carried out by IC PP Marheen under the supervision of SDPO Border and SHO PS Rajbagh.

Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena-IPS arrested two bootleggers & recovered Huge Cache(305 bottles of JK Special Whisky i.e 300 quarters of JK Special Whisky (180ml each) and 05 Bottles of JK Special Whisky (750 ml each) from the possession of two persons and seized the car involved.

On 28-11-2024 police team led by IC PP Chadwal under the supervision of SDPO Border & SHO PS Rajbagh during naka/ checking at NHW Chadwal area stopped one car(Maruti Alto 800 ) bearing Reg. No. Jk08A-3967 which was driven by one person namely Ashok Kumar S/o Tara Chand R/o Baza Bain Tehsil Sundarbani District Rajouri and his associate disclosed his name as Sunil Kumar S/o Sudesh Kumar R/o Ramkot District Kathua was signalled to stop for checking.During checking 300 quarters of JK Special Whisky(180 ml each), and 05 Bottles of JK Special Whisky (750 ml each) making a total of 305 bottles of JK Excise Whisky were recovered from their illegal possesion which they had kept in their illegal possesion in order to gain illegitimate profit by selling the same to people of the concerned area. Meanwhile all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor i.e 305 bottles of illicit liquor alongwith 01 Maruti Alto 800 car was seized and the two bootleggers arrested in this connection.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 247/2024 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act stands registered at PS Rajbagh and investigation has been initiated.

SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS assures that strict action will be taken against anyone caught involved in illegal Trade/transportation of illicit liquor.
The general public appreciates the efforts of Kathua Police in seizing the Stockpile of Illcit liquor and apprehending the accused and believes that such actions will deter others from engaging in similar activities.

*DC Kathua inspects development projects in Hiranagar*

*Kathua, November 27:* Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, today conducted an extensive inspection of key development projects in Hiranagar town to review their progress and ensure timely completion.

Accompanied by XEN PWD Hiranagar, Mona, the DC inspected the construction work of the Main Bridge in Hiranagar, which has been taken over by the Public Works Department (PWD) Hiranagar from JKPCC. During the visit, Dr. Minhas directed the XEN to prepare an estimate of the remaining work to expedite the completion of this crucial project.

The Deputy Commissioner also visited the under-construction Auditorium Hall of the School Education Department, located within the Hiranagar Municipal Council limits. The XEN informed the DC that 70% of the construction has been completed. Stressing the importance of the project, Dr. Minhas called for its timely completion, emphasizing its potential to cater to multiple needs of the school and the Hiranagar administration.

Later, the DC inspected the Smart Library, an asset of the Hiranagar Municipality nearing completion, which is being constructed by the PWD (R&B). Recognizing its significance as the first Smart Library in the region, the DC instructed the XEN to prepare an estimate for the required furniture and infrastructure to ensure its smooth functioning upon inauguration.
