MLA Akhil Gogoi must stop misleading people: BJP-EKA spokesperson

DIPHU, Jan 22: The Bharatiya Janata Party East Karbi Anglong spokesperson has slammed MLA Akhil Gogoi for his statement made during the APHLC foundation day celebration programme held in Diphu on Tuesday.
Addressing the media, the BJP spokesperson Laichan Engleng, who was accompanied by Salavor Bey and Sarthe Kramsa, said MLA Gogoi who said he would raise the demand for implementation of Article 244 (A) of the Constitution in the State Assembly is an absolutely misleading statement.
“Is Article 244 (A) issue an integral component of his own party manifesto? If it is not then he is clearly misleading the people of Karbi Anglong. Therefore, he must stop making false promises and statements,” Engleng said.
Engleng said, “He has made several visits to Karbi Anglong yet we have not yet seen highlighting the issues and challenges of the people of the hill districts in the State Assembly. Furthermore, he himself was with the opposition party and was also the one who opposed statehood demand of the Karbis in 2013 when JACAS spearheaded the movement.”
He also criticised the MLA stating that his stands in his party level and stamen made before the people of Karbi Anglong district is completely contradictory. The BJP spokesman also reminded that many people have lost their lives during movements in demand for implementation of the Article 244 (A) of the Constitution. He reminded that the BJP have provided Rs. 5 lakh to family members of more than 200 freedom fighters.
The BJP spokesman vehemently criticised the MLA for his statement that Karbi Anglong is the ATM of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. He concluded the press statement stating that MLA Akhil Gogoi is losing more support due to his habit of making utterly baseless statements.
