ഏഷ്യയിലെ തന്നെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരവും നീളവും കൂടിയ ജലസംഭരണിയാണ് മാത്തൂര് തോട്ടിപ്പാലം. 55 വര്‍ഷത്തോളം പഴക്കമുള്ള ഈ പലതിന് 115 അടി ഉയരവും 1 കിലോമീറ്റർ നീളവുമാണ് ഉള്ളത്. തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ കന്യാകുമാരി ജില്ലയിലെ പറളയാറിനു കുറുകെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന മാത്തൂര് തോട്ടിപ്പാലം ഒരു മലയില്‍ നിന്നും മറ്റൊരു മലയിലേക്ക് വെള്ളം എത്തിക്കുക എന്ന ഉദ്ദേശവുമായി നിര്‍മ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടതാണ്. കന്യാകുമാരിയില്‍ നിന്നും 46 കിലോമീറ്ററും തിരുവന്തപുരത്തുനിന്നും 55 കിലോമീറ്ററും മാറിയാണ് ഈ പാലം ഉള്ളത്. മാർത്താണ്ടത്തുനിന്നും കല്ലടിമാമ്മൂട് എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത്‌ എത്തിയാല്‍ 70 രൂപക്ക് മാത്തൂര് തൊട്ടിപ്പാലത്തേക്ക് ഓട്ടോക്ക് പ
