Nestled deep within the lush forests of Dalapchand under the Nimbong Gram Panchayat in Kalimpong-I block, the scenic Gupti Waterfall was formally opened to the public today, marking a significant step towards promoting eco-tourism and adventure tourism in the region.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Executive of GTA Sanchabir S***a, BDO Kalimpong-I Samirul Islam, Panchayat Samiti Karmadhakshya Yogendra Sharma, Pradhan of Nimbong Gram Panchayat Devi Dolama Tamang, members of the Gram Panchayat, local residents, and tourists from Kolkata.
Congratulating the local youth, GTA Deputy Chief Executive Sanchabir S***a lauded their initiative in discovering and showcasing the hidden waterfall amid dense forest cover. He remarked that such community-driven efforts play a vital role in sustainable tourism development while preserving natural heritage.
BDO Samirul Islam expressed his admiration for the pristine beauty of the area, describing himself as captivated by the series of small waterfalls, natural wells, and the surrounding greenery. Appealing to tourists to visit Gupti Waterfall, he highlighted its potential as a destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers. He informed that the site is located approximately 75 km from Siliguri and that homestay facilities are available at Dalapchand village under Nimbong Gram Panchayat. He further added that a dedicated trekking route is planned to increase tourist footfall and to develop Gupti Waterfall on the lines of the popular Yelbong Waterfall in Pabringtar Gram Panchayat.
Panchayat Samiti Karmadhakshya Yogendra Sharma expressed confidence that Gupti Waterfall would soon emerge as a major tourist centre of Nimbong Gram Panchayat. He acknowledged the relentless efforts of the Dalapchand youth, who are working collectively to place the destination firmly on the tourism map of Kalimpong district.
With its untouched natural charm and growing infrastructure, Gupti Waterfall is poised to become a new attraction for visitors seeking serenity, adventure, and a close connection with nature.
