Jamshedpur Chhappan Bhog and Girish sweets found adulterated
Jamshedpur, Sep 14: A team of food safety department launched a massive inspection drive across the city here on Wednesday and collected hundreds of samples from various sweets shops, restaurants and eateries including some well-known names.
A mobile testing lab sent by the State Food Testing Laboratory, Namkum, Ranchi, was sent to the city to assist the food safety officers on the instructions of Dhalbhum sub divisional officer (SDO) Sandeep Kumar Meena.
Sources said random samples of various sweets and salted snacks items were taken from the outlets. Milk based preparations were also taken for testing. Department officials said the samples of Chhena, Boondi and laddoos taken from Nadia Misthanna at Sakchi were found to be adulterated. Samples of Paneer, Chhena, laddoo, besan and khoya were found adulterated at Hare Krishna sweets shop. At Bistupur, rasgulla samples collected from Chhappan Bhog, Bistupur, were found to be adulterated. Chhena, Rajbhog and a yellow sample taken from Girish outlet at Bistupur were found to be adulterated. A masala kulchha item at a roadside cart in Bistupur was found to be adulerated with Kamdhenu colour.
The team also conducted surprise inspections in restaurants, sweets shops and eateries at Mango. Maida adulteration was detected in few food items at some outlets.
The mobile food testing lab team members included Neha Kausar, Sneha Srivasava, Rahul Alex Tigga, Udai Kumar and Food Safety Officer of East Singhbhum Mohammad Manzar.
The officials warned the owners and managers of all sweets shops, restaurants and eateries of strictly complying with the food safety norms and abstain from using adulterated products or adulterating food items. They also ordered them to put best before and manufacturing dates of food items on display.

Jamshedpur Rain: Heavy rain damages electric poles, uproots trees, disrupts power supply
Jamshedpur, Aug 20: Heavy rains coupled with thunderstorm damaged many electric poles in Jamshedpur leading to power disruptions in several parts of city.
According to district official, “Power supply is disturbed in major part of Jamshedpur where electricity is supplied through overhead wiring system. Many tree branches have fallen on overhead lines. In few 33 kv and 11 kv lines insulators have also got punctured. Electricity department team with sufficient manpower is working for restoration of power but the work has been hampered badly due to continuous rain.”
Heavy showers that hit the city late Friday evening also left trees uprooted and roads waterlogged at several locations.
Roads were littered with leaves and branches, drain were chockablock and overflowing.

Jamshedpur Bank Robbery: Armed robbers loot Rs 35 lakh from Bank of India Mango branch
Jamshedpur, Aug 18: At least four armed robbers allegedly barged into Dimna Chowk branch of Bank of India in Mango under Olidih Police Station jurisdiction in Jamshedpur and fled with cash after taking the staff hostage on Thursday morning.When the miscreants entered the bank, they took mobile phones of all employees at gunpoint.
A few clients were also present in the bank during the incident.
The robbers then went to the cash counter and stuffed the cash in a bag and sped away. According to reports cash worth Rs 35 lakh was looted from the branch.
After the incident, Jamshedpur SSP, Prabhat Kumar, along with senior police officials reached the spot and started a probe.
Jamshedpur couple found dead at home
A couple was found dead at their home in Jamshedpur on Monday morning with their 15-year-old daughter missing.
The bodies of Bhupendra Mandal (39) and Sabita Devi (35) were found lying in a pool of blood at their home in Manifit in Telco police station area, they said.Neighbours first spotted the body after noticing that the main gate of theit house was open, triggering tension in the industrial town in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district.
Superintendent of Police (City) K Vijay Shankar said the couple’s daughter was missing and a search was on to find her.
