দুর্গাপুর থেকে প্রায় ৮ কিলোমিটার দূর ঐতিহ্যবাহী আড়া গ্রামে অবস্থিত এই মন্দিরটি ইতিহাসের একটি সুন্দর নিদর্শন। বঙ্গের সেন রাজবংশের দ্বিতীয় রাজা বল্লাল সেন দেবাদিদেব মহাদেবের স্বপ্নাদেশ পেয়ে রাঢ় অঞ্চলের এই আড়া গ্রামে মন্দিরটি প্রতিষ্ঠা করান।
কথিত আছে গৌড়েশ্বর বল্লাল সেন প্রচন্ড অসুস্থ হয়ে ছিলেন এক সময়।। এই অসুস্থ অবস্থাতেই একদিন রাতে বল্লাল সেন স্বপ্নাদেশ পান। স্বপ্নাদেশ অনুসারে মন্দিরটির স্থাপনা করেন এবং পরে তিনি সম্পূর্ণ সুস্থ হয়ে ওঠেন। বেলে ও ঝামা (মাকড়া) পাথর দিয়ে তৈরি এই মন্দিরের কারুকার্য দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করে।
মন্দিরের বাইরে রয়েছে বিশাল চত্বর। রয়েছে অনেক বড় বড় গাছ যাদের নিচে বাঁধানো বসার জায়গা। চোখে পড়লো কয়েকটি সাম্প্রতিক কালে নির্মিত মন্ডপও।স্থানীয় বিশ্বাসে জাগ্রত এই রাড়েশ্বর শিবমন্দির প্রাঙ্গনে বসে চৈত্র মাসে গাজনের মেলা, শ্রাবন মাসের প্রতি সোমবার ভক্তেরা আসেন শিবের মাথায় জল ঢালতে আর শিবরাত্রিতে ঘটে বিশাল ভক্ত সমাগম।
