Bhaderwah, Adjoining Areas In Jammu Division Receive Fresh Snowfall
Jammu division’s Bhaderwah valley in Doda district received a fresh spell of snowfall on Thursday, as did the adjacent region of Bhalessa which was blanketed in pristine white. Poonch, too, was freshly covered in snow; while further north in Kashmir valley, there has been snowfall in Anantnag and the adjoining areas of south Kashmir.
Competing healthily with spells of snowfall in Kashmir valley, following the restoration of the Bhaderwah-Basholi-Pathankot National Highway, a large number of tourists thronged to Bhaderwah region of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the Guldanda meadow, after it received heavy snowfall earlier in January.
Guldanda, which is located at almost 10,000 feet altitude, has become a popular destination for visitors from across the country. In the past year, over 5 lakh tourists visited various parts of Bhaderwah, according to the Publicity Officer of the Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA), Aamir Rafique.

: Lauding ‘Startup India’ as a transformative programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on its ninth anniversary on Thursday that the initiative has propelled India to become one of the largest and most vibrant startup ecosystems globally.
It is a landmark initiative that has redefined innovation, entrepreneurship and growth, he said, describing the programme as “very close to my heart,” as it has emerged as a powerful way of furthering youth empowerment.
He said on X, “Over the past nine years, this transformative program has empowered countless youngsters, turning their innovative ideas into successful Startups.”
People would doubt India’s ability to thrive in this system just a decade ago, he added.

Space Docking: ISRO Achieved The Unbelievable, Says Jitendra Singh

Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh on Thursday congratulated ISRO scientists and engineers for accomplishing the space docking experiment and said it would pave the way for future missions, including the Bharatiya Antriksh Station.
Singh, also the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, took to X to greet scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
“Congrats ISRO. Finally made it. SpaDeX has accomplished the unbelievable… docking complete… and it is all indigenous ‘Bharatiya Docking System’,” Singh said.

“This paves the way for smooth conduct of ambitious future missions including the Bharatiya Antriksha Station, Chandrayaan 4 and Gaganyaan,” the minister said.
Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s continuous patronage has kept the spirits soaring at ISRO in Bengaluru.

CJI Administers Oath Of Office To Justice K Vinod Chandran As SC Judge
Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna on Thursday administered oath of office to Patna High Court Chief Justice K Vinod Chandran as a judge of the Supreme Court.
With the swearing-in of Justice Chandran, the working strength of the apex court has risen to 33 against the sanctioned 34 judges, including the CJI.
On January 13, the Centre had cleared the proposal of the apex court collegium recommending Justice Chandran as judge of the Supreme Court.
The five-judge collegium led by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, in a meeting held on January 7, recommended the name of Justice Chandran, who was appointed as a judge of the Kerala High Court on November 8, 2011.
Justice Chandran was elevated as the Patna High Court Chief Justice on March 29, 2023

ISRO Sucessfully Docks Satellites As Part Of SpaDeX Mission

ISRO on Thursday successfully performed the docking of satellites as part of the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX), sources in the space agency said.
“The docking was performed successfully. We will be issuing a statement soon,” a source told PTI.
Earlier on January 12, ISRO brought the two spacecraft to three metres and then moved them back to safe distance in its trial attempt to dock the satellites.
ISRO had successfully launched the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) mission on December 30, 2024.

The PSLV C60 rocket carrying two small satellites, SDX01 (Chaser) and SDX02 (Target), along with 24 payloads, had lifted off from the first launchpad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, and about 15 minutes after liftoff, the two small spacecraft weighing about 220 kg each were launched into a 475-km circular orbit as intended.
According to ISRO, the SpaDeX mission is a cost-effective technology demonstrator mission for the demonstration of in-space docking using two small spacecraft that was launched by PSLV.

ED Srinagar Attaches Property Worth Rs 2.25 Crore In Delhi

The Enforcement Directorate Srinagar has attached an immovable property worth over Rs 2 crore under the provisions of PMLA.
In a post on X, the probe agency said that the property belongs to shareholders and owners of M/s Manoj Ji and co private limited.
“ED, Srinagar has provisionally attached immovable property situated at Delhi having worth of Rs. 2.25 Crore and related to the shareholders and owners of M/s Manoj Ji & Co. Pvt. Ltd. under the provisions of PMLA, 2002,” it said.

In a powerful show of solidarity and commitment on the eve of the Delhi Legislative Assembly election, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today hosted a luncheon meeting for Jammu & Kashmir origin Delhi residents living here.
The event, which gathered prominent members of the Delhi based displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, became a platform for discussing the pressing issues faced by Kashmiri Pandit migrants.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, known for his fierce advocacy for the welfare of Jammu & Kashmir displaced Kashmiri Pandits, reiterated BJP’s commitment to Delhi based KPs and exuded confidence that after February 8, BJP will form government in Delhi State and resolve displaced KPs’ issues.

He said, these longstanding issues will get resolved promptly once the BJP’s Double Engine government resumes full control in NCT of Delhi after the February 8 poll results.
“The time for change has come. On February 8, when the BJP’s Double Engine government takes charge, the days of neglect and apathy towards Kashmiris will be over. We will bring resolution, development, and a brighter future for every Kashmiri migrant,” said Dr. Jitendra Singh with unwavering determination.
In a scathing critique of the current administration, Dr. Jitendra Singh slammed the state government for its poor governance and failure to address the needs of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the migrant community.
“The state government has failed miserably in ensuring the basic rights and dignity of the people of Union Territory. But, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will change this. Our Spiritual Culture Embedded In Spirit Of Service, My Govt Working Selflessly For People: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asserted India’s spiritual culture is deeply rooted in the spirit of service and his government has been working selflessly for people’s welfare for more than a decade.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating an ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) temple at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai, Modi, who assumed office for a third time in June last year, emphasised his government has launched a slew of welfare measures like building toilets, homes for the poor and providing LPG connections and medical insurance to citizens.

“This spirit of service brings true social justice and is a symbol of true secularism. The main foundation of our spiritual culture is the spirit of service. India is not just a piece of land surrounded by geographical boundaries. It is a living land, living culture. Knowledge is spirituality and if we want to understand India, we have to imbibe spirituality,” he underlined in his speech.
He said followers of ISKCON, a global bhakti movement founded on the Bhagavad Gita teachings, across the world are connected to each other by their devotion to Lord Krishna.

Modi said the spirit of service propagated by the ISKCON movement inspires the youth and helps them create a sensitive society which promotes human values.
“It inspires people to heal in India and look after their well-being,” the PM maintained.
Modi said true service is symbolized by self-less human endeavour where there is no other interest and described India as an “extraordinary, wonderous land”.

Rana Inaugurates 2-Day Gojri Literary, Cultural Conference

Minister for Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmad Rana, today inaugurated the two day Gojri Literary and Cultural programme, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) at K L Saigal Hall, Jammu.
Secretary, JKAACL, Harvinder Kaur, Chairperson Gurjar Desk Charitable Trust, Arshid Ali Choudhary, Chief Editor, JKAACL, Dr Javid Rahi, Dr. Nikhat Choudhary, writers and artists participated in the programme.

Javed Rana emphasised the significance of Gojri as an important language of Jammu and Kashmir saying that every language needs cultural and literary programmes for their propagation and revival.
“Cultural programmes, which aim to celebrate and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Gujjar and Bakerwal communities of Jammu and Kashmir, provide a platform to preserve and restore the pristine glory of Gojri language. These programmes breathe new life into the ancient languages,” maintained the Minister.

While commending JKAACL for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Gujjar-Bakerwal community, Rana stressed the importance of collective efforts by all other stakeholders on this account. “We as a society have to fulfil our responsibility and work towards preservation and propagation of our native languages. Conscience keepers of the Gujjar heritage have to play their crucial role in promoting and propagating the Gojri dialect,” he asserted.
Lauding the writers, artists who work passionately for preservation and propagation of Gojri, Javed Rana stressed the importance of documenting traditional folk culture. He lamented the fact that many people feel ashamed in speaking their mother tongue. He said that local languages are the key towards understanding the unique history, folklore and traditions of that particular region.

The Minister further said that under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, our government will be giving equal importance to all languages so as to develop them to be useful instruments for advancement of the nation. He also called for a collaborative effort between the Tribal Research Institute of J&K and JKAACL to preserve and promote tribal languages and cultures.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Minister inaugurated a Gojri book exhibition showcasing publications by JKAACL.

India Becoming Major Maritime Power: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said India is becoming a major maritime power and is being recognised as a reliable and responsible partner in the world.

Speaking after the commissioning of three naval warships here, Modi said India has always supported an open, secure, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
A destroyer, a frigate and a submarine were commissioned together for the first time on Wednesday, he noted, adding that all the three are ‘Made in India’.
The ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative has made the country strong and self-reliant, the prime minister said.
“We should become a global partner in securing the sea from drugs, weapons and terrorism and make it safe and prosperous. India is becoming a major maritime power and is being recognised as a reliable and responsible partner,” he said.
In the Indian Ocean region, India has emerged as the “first responder”, the prime minister noted.
Modi said India is going to play a major role in giving a direction to the global security, economy and geopolitical dynamics.
‘It is important to protect the territorial waters, freedom of navigation, and secure trade supply lines and sea routes,’ he said.
Modi further said India is working for development, and not expansionism.
He said 33 ships and seven submarines have been inducted into the Navy in the last 10 years.
India’s defence production has crossed Rs 1.25 lakh crore and defence equipment have been exported to more than 100 countries, he added.
Earlier in the morning, Indian Navy warships INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vaghsheer were commissioned at the Naval Dockyard here in the presence of PM Modi.
INS Nilgiri, the lead ship of the Project 17A stealth frigate class, represents a significant advancement over the Shivalik-class frigates.

Six Miscreants Booked For Degoratory Remarks In Srinagar: Police
Coming down heavily on miscreants, police have booked six people over degoratory remarks in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
The police said that 06 miscreants have been charged under sections 126 & 170 of the BNSS and have been detained at Central Jail, Srinagar, for inciting sectarian unrest through derogatory remarks.
The public is hereby warned that any individual found engaging in similar unlawful activities, including posting or sharing sectarian content with the intent to create division or disturb public harmony, will meet the same fate, reads the statement.
It’s pertinent to mention that a video went viral on social media in which some people were seen using degoratory religious remarks.

Home Ministry Grants ED To Prosecute Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia In Liquor Scam Case

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has authorized the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to initiate prosecution against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) for their alleged involvement in money laundering linked to the liquor scam case, official sources said on Wednesday.
The sanction order against these Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders were received earlier this month in a fresh development to the case pertains to the alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy for 2021-22.

The move comes as the two leaders are out on bail in the case as the Supreme Court in September last year ordered Arvind Kejriwal to be released on regular bail as well as Manish Sisodia a month ago in August in cases linked to the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam.
The development is significant as a special PMLA court in Delhi had delayed the framing of charges against Arvind Kejriwal after he challenged the trial court’s decision to take cognizance of the chargesheet in the absence of specific sanction for prosecution under PMLA.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has filed a chargesheet against Arvind Kejriwal under the Prevention of Corruption Act, received the necessary sanction for prosecution in August of last year.
This decision follows the Supreme Court’s ruling on November 6, which mandated that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) must also obtain prior sanction for prosecution under Section 197(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code (now Section 218 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita) in money laundering cases, similar to the requirement for the CBI.
The framing of charges against Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case had been delayed in a Delhi court due to the lack of the necessary sanction.
Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have been accused of accepting bribes from the ‘South Group,’ a cartel that controlled the sale and distribution of liquor in Delhi and allegedly profited from the excise policy implemented by the Delhi government for 2021-22.
Till date, the ED has conducted searches on 245 locations across the country including Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and other places in the case.
