Ropeway project has destroyed the nature of the pilgrimage, an attack on the faith of religious sentiments: Shiv Sena

Jammu: - Destroying the mythological form of the world famous Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Yatra under the guise of ropeway and encouraging devotees to undertake an incomplete journey is a big mockery of religious faith, which should not be tolerated by Hindus at all, stated by Manish Sahni, President, Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit.
Shiv Sainiks who were going to join the protest against the ropeway project in the Holy city of Katra were forcibly stopped by the police near the Numai police post about 2km before Katra and forcefully sent back to Jammu.
Sahni said that the voice of Hindus cannot be suppressed by using the police force. The Shrine Board will have to give up its stubborn attitude of ruining the nature of the pilgrimage in the name of the ropeway. Manish Sahni said in his address that they have no objection to development and facilities, but if under the guise of these, the Holy form of the pilgrimage is tampered and an attempt will be made to distance the devotees from the real form of the pilgrimage, it will not be tolerated at all.
Sahni said that the ropeway facility will spoil the nature of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Yatra. The devotees who take advantage of this facility will not be able to get the privilege of visiting the Holy Banganga, Charan Paduka, Ardhkumwari etc.
Along with this, the business of the shopkeepers on the traditional route along with those who have been providing services with mare, pitthu, palanquin etc. for decades will be affected by this project. Sahni said that the ropeway project is being set up on Tarakot road, about two kilometers away from the main market and traditional route of Katra. Sahni also raised questions on the silence maintained by the leaders of the BJP, who claim to be the well-wishers of Hindus, on saving the form of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Y
