In response to recent extortion incidents and concerns within the business community, a proactive team from the Itanagar Capital Police, led by SDPO Itanagar, Kengo Dirchi, embarked on a series of community outreach initiatives. The team, comprising OC PS Itanagar, Inspr. K. Yangfo, OC PS Niti Vihar, Inspr. Y. Riram, OC PS Chimpu, L/nspr. Nabam Sunita, and 2nd OC PS Itanagar, Inspr. Takhe Tasso, visited key markets across the city, including Akashdeep Market, Gandhi Market, Gohpur Market, and Niti Vihar.
During these visits, the officers held open dialogues with members of the business community – shopkeepers, owners, and other stakeholders. These meetings aimed to foster trust and confidence within the community in the wake of the recent extortion case at Akashdeep Market and numerous reports of similar demands from various individuals and groups.
SDPO Dirchi emphasized the importance of community cooperation and urged all members of the business community to come forward without fear, hesitation and lodge complaints with the respective OCs regarding any extortion attempts or threats. He assured the community that prompt and decisive action would be taken against the culprits, bringing them to justice.
To further strengthen communication and facilitate rapid response, the SDPO shared his contact numbers, emergency contact numbers for all Police Stations under Itanagar, ICR, including those of the OCs and Emergency Duty Officers.
This proactive approach by the Itanagar Capital Police demonstrates a commitment to community safety and a willingness to work closely with citizens to address concerns and maintain law and order.
