2nd Mega Medical Camp for Police Personnel Begins in Itanagar

The 2nd Mega Medical Camp for Police Personnel begins today, and will continue for three days until January 18, at the SP Office, Itanagar. This annual initiative aims to prioritize the health and well-being of Arunachal Pradesh Police personnel, especially those in the Itanagar Capital Region.

The camp offers a range of free medical services, including comprehensive health checkups, lifestyle disease screenings, lab tests, dental, eye, ENT, and cancer screenings, as well as consultations with cardiologists, dietitians, and psychologists. Services such as CMAAY and ABHA card enrollment, diagnostic procedures, and free medicines are also available.

Follow-Up Meeting on St. Alphonso School Incident

Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom convened a second meeting today at the Camp Office of IG Park to address the St. Alphonso School incident. The meeting was attended by the Superintendent of Police, Naharlagun; the DDSE, Capital, Naharlagun; and affected parents of the school.

The DC confirmed that a committee has been formed, and an appeal for fast-tracking the case has been submitted.
AAPSU did not attend today’s meeting, just as they had skipped the previous one. Parents also stated that no individual from AAPSU reached out to address their concerns.

In response to recent extortion incidents and concerns within the business community, a proactive team from the Itanagar Capital Police, led by SDPO Itanagar, Kengo Dirchi, embarked on a series of community outreach initiatives. The team, comprising OC PS Itanagar, Inspr. K. Yangfo, OC PS Niti Vihar, Inspr. Y. Riram, OC PS Chimpu, L/nspr. Nabam Sunita, and 2nd OC PS Itanagar, Inspr. Takhe Tasso, visited key markets across the city, including Akashdeep Market, Gandhi Market, Gohpur Market, and Niti Vihar.
During these visits, the officers held open dialogues with members of the business community – shopkeepers, owners, and other stakeholders. These meetings aimed to foster trust and confidence within the community in the wake of the recent extortion case at Akashdeep Market and numerous reports of similar demands from various individuals and groups.
SDPO Dirchi emphasized the importance of community cooperation and urged all members of the business community to come forward without fear, hesitation and lodge complaints with the respective OCs regarding any extortion attempts or threats. He assured the community that prompt and decisive action would be taken against the culprits, bringing them to justice.
To further strengthen communication and facilitate rapid response, the SDPO shared his contact numbers, emergency contact numbers for all Police Stations under Itanagar, ICR, including those of the OCs and Emergency Duty Officers.
This proactive approach by the Itanagar Capital Police demonstrates a commitment to community safety and a willingness to work closely with citizens to address concerns and maintain law and order.

A truck with registration number AR20A4248 collided with a Bolero Camper at the bypass road near JNV Roing, Lower Dibang Valley District. The truck driver fled the scene without checking on the occupants of the Bolero Camper, though witnesses managed to note down the truck's registration number despite its rapid departure. Following an investigation, the truck owner was identified as T. Moran, and the driver at the time of the incident was identified as Hemanta Moran. An FIR has been filed against both the truck owner and driver. The complainant has indicated willingness to withdraw the case if the truck owner comes forward to settle the matter personally.

National Youth Day Celebrated at Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly
