India, currently among the top five largest economies in the world, is poised for further improvement in the near future.

Currently, the list is led by the United States of America. The complete list is as follows:

1. USA
2. China
3. Japan
4. Germany
5. India

India likely to become second largest economy by 2075
According to projections from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India is expected to become the third-largest economy in the world by 2028. India is also expected to ascend to the position of the world’s second-largest economy by 2075.

A few months ago, the banking giant Goldman Sachs made a prediction that India would surpass the United States to become the second-largest economy globally by 2075.

Goldman Sachs also forecasted that by 2075, China would top the list of the largest economies across the globe. In a surprising twist, they mentioned that Pakistan, a country grappling with financial challenges, would become the sixth-largest economy in the world by 2075.

Finance Minister T Harish Rao has indicated that the Bharat Rashta Samithi (BRS) manifesto for the 2023 elections will have something special for women and farmers.

Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation for the construction of the Government Medical College in Medak on Thursday, the Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was thinking about these two sections while preparing the manifesto. The Chief Minister wanted to do something more for them, he said.

The Minister also laid foundation stones for a Kuruma Bhavan, Vysya Bhavan, Mudiraj Bhavan, Medical College and three other development works in Medak on Thursday.

The Minister said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was trying to gain politically, spreading false stories and promises. Accusing both the Opposition parties of terming BRS as a B team of their rival national party, he has said that BRS is just an A Team of Telangana people, but never acted as B Team for any other political party. Rao asked the Congress and BJP Parties to just realise that they even had no Opposition status in Telangana.

The Minister also said Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan did injustice by denying the MLC seat to Erukala community leader Kurra Satyanarayana. He said that the Telangana government has launched the Erukala Community empowerment scheme with Rs 60 crore. Rao said that the community people would be supported in pig rearing.

A major fire broke out in a textile store in Ramnagar on Friday early hours. No casualties were reported, police said.

Officials suspect a short circuit could have caused the fire. Local residents noticed fire and thick smoke emerging from the locked store, which is surrounded by residential colonies, and alerted the fire department and police.

Two fire engines which were rushed to the spot doused the fire within an hour. The store was full of cotton, fiber and cloth material due to which thick smoke engulfed the surrounding areas, triggering panic among the residents.
Officials said the cost of the property damage was yet to be estimated.

The police are investigating.

The condition of patients in Nimes Hospital has become worse. If they come to the hospital from hundreds of kilometers with health problems, the medical staff shows hell to the patients in the name of tokens. There is a situation where one has to wait for days to get each test done.

The shortage of tests in NIMS hospital has become very bad. After 13 days after the staff issued tokens for the tests, the tests are being conducted. Patients complain that any test takes a week to ten days. Those who have come for the tests from other places are facing difficulties. Patients are begging for a solution to this problem.

Former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin has been disqualified from contesting the Hyderabad Cricket Academy (HCA) elections on grounds of violation of terms.

Azharuddin’s disqualification was based on the decision made by a committee constituted by the Supreme Court, and headed by Justice Lau Nageshwar Rao, for handling HCA’s affairs. The committee was formed after reports of brewing differences surfaced between the Azharuddin, who was the president of HCA, and its working members.

Azharuddin was elected president of the association in the last election held in September 2019. His tenure ended a year later. However, he continued to hold the position until Supreme Court appointed a single-member panel to look into the issue.

Former Supreme Court judge Justice L Nageswara Rao removed the former cricketer from the list of voters for HCA polls scheduled this month on the grounds of conflict of interest as he was president of the Deccan Blues Cricket Club while serving as the president of HCA till early this year.

Nageswara Rao wrote to Azharuddin that he was removed from the voter list on the basis of the order passed by him on July 31, 2023.

“According to the order dated 31-07-2023, all the executive committee members of clubs in which a person/his family members are involved in the management of multiple clubs have been disqualified to either vote/contest in the ensuing elections to the HCA for one term or a period of three years, whichever is greater.

HCA elections are scheduled to be held on October 20. Electoral officer V.S. Sampath issued the notification on September 30 for the elections for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and councilor.

The elections were supposed to be held in September 2022 but was postponed due to court cases.

04/10/2023

Three persons died and 23 army personnel were washed away on Wednesday after a cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in north Sikkim resulted in a flash flood in the Teesta River basin, which was aggravated by the release of water from a dam, officials said.

The flood started around 1.30 am, they said.

“Three bodies have been recovered from Singtam during rescue and relief efforts,” a Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority official said.

The SSDMA, in a press release, stated that a “cloudburst in portions of Lhonak Lake, which caused the rise of water levels with very high velocities downstream along the Teesta River basin in the early hours of Wednesday”, damaged many establishments in Mangan, Gangtok, Pakyong, and Namchi districts.

All schools located in the four districts of Sikkim will remain closed till October 8, the education department said in a circular.

Defence officials said establishments along the Lachen valley have been affected and efforts are on to confirm details.

The release of water from the Chungthang dam led to a sudden increase in water levels up to 15-20 feet high downstream.

This has led to army vehicles parked at Bardang near Singtam getting affected, Defence spokesperson Lt. Col Mahendra Rawat said.

Twenty-three army personnel have been reported missing and 41 vehicles submerged under the slush, he said, adding that search operations are underway.

Border Road Organisation (BRO) has already launched rescue operations and 80 locals have been safely evacuated so far, the Defence officials said.

A steel bridge at Singtam, also known as Indreni bridge, in Gangtok district has been completely washed away by Teesta river water early on Wednesday.

The 120-metre-cable suspension bridge is an important thoroughfare.

During the ICC World Cup warm-up match between Pakistan and Australia at Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad, concerns arose regarding the condition of seats in some of the stands, sparking reactions on social media.

It all began when a cricket writer shared a photograph of the seats’ condition at Uppal Stadium on X (formerly Twitter). He commented, “Nothing much has changed in Uppal stadium. Only some window dressing and spectator comfort still not taken care of in full.”

When some social media users claimed that he had posted an old or fake photograph, he shared another photo along with his ticket for the Pakistan vs. Australia ICC World Cup warm-up match and a video of the stadium.

However, later, as some individuals outside India attempted to exploit his tweet, he clarified, “My tweets on bad condition of seats in some stands of the Uppal Stadium have gone viral. Some people outside the country r trying to take advantage. I wud like to clarify that the stadium has been renovated with brand new seats & only Western Terrace stands old seats are bad.”

He added, “HCA, it seems, didn’t have enough time to replace all the chairs before the World Cup. Bt they shud hv got the old chairs cleaned up before the match. The rest of the facilities in the stadium are excellent and no one should have any doubts about hosting capacities of India.”

Uppal Stadium, officially known as the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, is owned and operated by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

The Victoria and Albert ( V and A) Museum is all set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government next week, which will see 17th century Tiger Claws’ weapon believed to have belonged to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj make a journey back to India for an exhibition.

During a protracted military engagement in 1659, the legendary Maratha leader held metal claws, or wagh nakh, concealed in his hand and is said to have disembowelled his opponent Afzal Khan the commander of the opposing Bijapur army.

It is believed, though unverified, that the set of claws then came into the possession of James Grant Duff, an officer of the East India Company who was appointed Resident or political agent of the Satara state in 1818 and gifted to the V and A by a descendant.

“The V and A looks forward to welcoming senior leadership from the Maharashtra government, to sign a memorandum of understanding,” a V and A spokesperson said.

“The story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s triumph over Afzal Khan is legendary, so we are delighted that the Tiger Claws’ will return to India as part of the 350th anniversary events where they can be enjoyed as part of the celebrations. We hope that their display might also enable new research into their history and look forward to working in partnership with colleagues in the months ahead as we develop plans for their display,” the spokesperson said.

The MoU, expected to be signed on Tuesday, coincides with Maharashtra’s 350th anniversary celebrations of the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji. It is then expected to be dispatched to India later this year for an agreed period.

A poster war erupted between BRS and BJP in Hyderabad, hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Telangana on Sunday.

While ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has put up posters questioning the Prime Minister over not fulfilling the promises made to Telangana during the last 10 years, BJP has hit back calling Chief Minister KCR as Telangana’s biggest MLAs buyer every five years.

The BRS supporters have pasted posters near Shamshabad Airport where the Prime Minister will be landing before heading to Mahabubnagar to launch various projects and address public meetings.

“Welcome Modi Ji, What happened to your promise of national status for Palamuru-Rangareddy project,” reads a banner.

‘Step motherly treatment,” says another poster. It also reads that Modi has no moral right to visit Mahabubnagar. It depicts national status for Polavaram and Upper Bhadra projects in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka respectively with the same being denied to Palamuru-Rangareddy project.

Another poster highlights Prime Minister Modi’s promises to Telangana. These include ITIR, textile park, defence corridor, Kazipet coach factory, Mission Bhagiratha funds, Bayyaram steel plant, turmeric board, medical colleges and IIM.

Through another poster, BRS said Modi has no right to visit Telangana after insulting the state.

The poster carries four different images of Modi speaking in Parliament on different occasions about Telangana formation.

The poster also refers to the Prime Minister’s quote, “Mother was killed to save the child”.

It also carried quotes from Modi’s speeches made in 2018, 2022 and 2023. The latest quote ‘Telangana kush nahi tha’ was from his remarks made on September 18, 2023.

Meanwhile, BJP has hit back at BRS by pasting posters targeting Chief Minister KCR. A poster termed him as Telangana’s biggest MLAs’ buyer every five years.

The Milad un Nabi procession that commenced from Makkah Masjid in Hyderabad this afternoon is underway amid tight security arrangements. Hundreds of people have taken part in the procession.

It passes through various historic places in Hyderabad, including Gulzar Houz, Pathergatti, Chatta Bazaar, Purani Haveli, Etebar Chowk, and Bibi Bazaar before concluding at Moghalpura before Asr prayers.

Tight security arrangements have also been made to ensure peace and avoid untoward incidents during the procession.

Organisers’ decision on Milad un Nabi procession in Hyderabad
Earlier, the Markazi Milad Juloos Committee, which comprises several Sufi orders, dargahs, and religious figures, announced that the procession would take place on October 1.

Every year, the Milad un Nabi procession in the city is held on Rabi’ al-awwal 12. This year, it falls on September 28. However, as the date coincided with Ganesh Visarjan, the organisers have decided to hold the procession on October 1.

The rationale behind this decision was that having two processions on the same day could potentially create opportunities for miscreants to cause disturbances.
