Theme: “Landscapes”
Praxis Gallery seeks photographic artwork that explores a broad, interpretive, and personal investigation of the landscape – both as a place, or an idea – as a literal expression or conceptual iteration. All genres, capture types, black & white and color, traditional and non-traditional photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission.
Awards:

Thirty images will be selected by the juror for exhibition at Praxis Gallery (Exhibition Dates: Dec 18, 2021 – Jan 3rd, 2022).

Is it Legal to Fly a Drone over Private Property? Laws Explained - Photodoto -

Drone photography and videography are becoming big business, from real estate to special effects such as simulating views from aircraft or a bird’s eye. Aerial photography can be simply stunning and even abstract which makes for great photos.

With money out there and more and more people getting into using drones for photography, legal questions arise over what you can fly over and take photos of. In this article, I will explain the legalities of flying drones over private property and related issues.
As a general rule, it is legal to fly a drone over private property if the flight rules are followed and you fly outdoors, as property owners do not own the airspace, as long as you are not causing a nuisance or flying recklessly. Exceptions include states which passed laws restricting the flying of drones in private places.

Photoshop "Could Not Save Because Disk is Full” but Disk is not Full: Solutions - Photodoto -

Many photographers make use of Adobe Photoshop for all their editing work, and any issues with the program can have a huge impact on productivity. If you are seeing the message “Photoshop could not save because the disk is full”, even when you have sufficient space on your hard disk, it can be due to multiple reasons.

I used to have this issue myself. Let’s now explore all the possible reasons and find a solution for you so you can get on with work.
Solutions to this error include purchasing latest version of Photoshop, saving as different file type, saving “as copy”, saving to a different disk or partition, not saving to Documents, setting correct file system, error checking your disk and others listed.

Maker Faire Zagreb Goes Outdoors This Weekend - Make: -

The countdown begins for Maker Faire Zagreb 2021 as it inspires and delights the Croatian capital from European Square, home to the city’s famed Christmas market and concerts and other festivals throughout the year. The move is precautionary due to the pandemic and the event, currently in its third edition, will return to the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum when conditions allow. Last year Maker Faire Zagreb 2020 took place in the museum, but the main event was online – and exhibitors were given the chance to show their work, ideas and inventions in 3 minute videos. As in the past, this year’s event will be preceded by the STEAM Week education event hosted by organizers FabLab Croatia based in the faculty of Architecture at Zagreb University.

Join In The Fun At Maker Faire Tokyo 2021 - Make: -

The two-day program explores a wide variety of topics and brings back its unique Twitter “exhibition” activation alongside the livestream on YouTube. For this, Makers who want to join use hashtags and #作品発表. (作品発表 means “exhibit of works” and this hashtag is used to differentiate exhibition projects from general tweets.) A time slot is set for each exhibition category to spread out the total number tweets and allow participants to experience the variety of projects.
The categories and schedule are as follows:
On Saturday, October 2nd, Makers who were selected as an exhibitor for the Maker Faire Tokyo on-site exhibition can post their work. Capture One Brings Back Export Tab in v14.4 - Beyond Photo Tips -

In version 14.2 of Capture One 21, the company removed the years-old method of exporting images in favor of an easier-to-use export-window-styled workflow.
The move had mixed responses, with some professional and enterprise-level users claiming that it broke their workflow. Others – most notably beginners – welcomed the more user-friendly ‘export’ button in the toolbar and subsequent windowed dialog workflow.Advertisements

Tombstones are a must for any Halloween lover, but store-bought ones always seem a bit underwhelming. With this tutorial and some common materials from your local hardware and craft stores, you can make realistic tombstones that would fool the dead!

How To "Over-Mold" Clear Parts - Make: -










This week’s video is about creating a flexible over-molded polyurethane clear acrylic lid using a four part 3D printed mold.

I start by creating a 3D printed self locking 4 part PLA mold. I laser cut my acrylic with some teeth and holes in the edges for the Polyurethane to bond with. Next I add some release agent to the PLA mold to prevent the urethane from sticking.The acrylic is sandwiched in the mold and then I inject a flexible shore 80A urethane into the mold cavity to create the part.Once the part is cured, some clean up is required and the prototype part is born.

Today I’m hiding because the fuel situation that his the USA a short time ago has now hit us in the UK, but seemingly under a different guise. Rather than having an actual fuel shortage we have plenty of fuel reserves, but the media are encouraging a fuel shortage by saying there is one when, in fact, there isn’t. Get it? It sucks. Rather than constantly joining lines for fuel reaching half a mile from the gas station I decided I’ll just park up and wait.

Good ideas are a dime a dozen. So what separates the ideas that stay on the shelf from the ones that succeed? Almost universally, it boils down to the person or people executing the idea. Creativity requires optimism to be fully utilized, and if you spend too much time poking holes in ideas, you risk stifling something great.

Le Mont-Comi en automne -

Samuel de Champlain mentionne le mont en 1611 mais ne lui donne pas de nom. La montagne est désignée sous le nom de mont Carmel par Frankelin en 1686, puis au XVIIIe siècle les cartographes Bellin en 1753, Anville en 1755, Carver en 1776 le nomment mont Camille. Cette dénomination est aussi utilisée par D. S. Ballantyne en 1839 et par l’amiral Bayfield en 1849. Sur une carte d’arpentage du chemin Taché réalisée par Frédéric Bélanger en 1858, ce dernier utilise le nom de Mount Comming. Toujours au XIXe siècle, on rencontre les nomenclatures mont Commis, mont Comis et mont Câmi.
Le mont est connu depuis le XVIIe siècle par les navigateurs du fleuve Saint-Laurent qui l’utilisent comme point de repère. Ce point de repère devient plus important au XIXe siècle en l’absence de station de phare alors que les navires croisant sur le fleuve doivent attendre l’embarquement d’un pilote de la station de pilotage du Bic.
