[Intro] 00:00
Host: Hello and welcome to “Novel Writing Insights,” a podcast by SPI Publications where we delve into the world of writing and explore the secrets to crafting a compelling novel. Today, we’re going to talk about character development, and how to build unique and relatable characters that will captivate your readers. I’m your host Prabhat, and I’m a novelist and writing coach.
[Segment 1] 00:30
Host: Character development is one of the most crucial elements of writing a novel. Your characters are the driving force behind your story, and they’re what keep your readers invested and engaged. But, how do you create characters that are unique and relatable at the same time?
[Segment 2] 00:50
Host: First, it’s important to understand your characters’ motivations and backstory. What drives them to do what they do? What are their fears, hopes, and dreams? All of these factors will help you create complex and dynamic characters that your readers will care about.
[Segment 3] 01:12
Host: Another key aspect of character development is building character arcs. This refers to the journey that your characters go through as they evolve and grow over the course of your story. To create a compelling character arc, think about the challenges that your characters will face, and how they will overcome them. This will help you create characters that are dynamic, engaging, and relatable.

People aren't always fortunate enough to get proper love and care from both their parents since life isn't fair to everyone.
Tu mera dil Tu meri jaan is a tale of an eternal bond between a father and his child and is an ode to all the single fathers who rear up their children going out of their ways to refill the void, the absence of their mothers left in their heart by shouldering double responsibilities of both a father and a mother.

Akele hum akele tum
Jo hum tum sang hain toh phir kya gham
Tu mera dil tu meri jaan
Oh! I love you daddy
I was engulfed by loneliness ever since maa left us, a sense of fear always persisted in my puny heart that you just like maa will abandon me one day, but dad I was wrong, even in such a phase of emotional turbulence you never left my side. Seeing the other children of my school with both their parents at times made me curse my destiny but everytime tears trickled down my eyes, you were there to comfort me, gulping this pain of mine, showering me with unrequited love and care. Circumstantial adversities of life made me a loner but dad you eventually taught me how to accept the reality and move on in life. Though I don't have many people in life on whom I can count on, but I know you are there for me to have equal shares of my grief and happiness.

Tu masoom, tu shaitaan
But you love me daddy
A difficult childhood made me stubborn and an introvert. I shunned people away from my life as the fear of losing the people I love constantly chased me but dad you never gave up on me, from cheering me up on days full of my mood swings to fuelling my dreams by instilling inner faith in me, you have done it all. Though I was a troubled teen in everyone's eyes, to you I was always your 'masoom and shaitaan' child, your eyes never judged me since it was you who taught me to embrace myself with all my imperfections.
