Biden chooses Lisa Franchetti to head Pentagon military branch:

US President Biden has chosen a female admiral to lead the US Navy - the first time a woman has been nominated to head a Pentagon military service branch.
Lisa Franchetti is a former head of the US 6th Fleet and US naval forces in South Korea, and has also served as an aircraft carrier strike commander.
Her nomination by Mr Biden must still be confirmed by the US Senate.
One lawmaker is currently blocking the Senate from confirming military leaders to protest a military abortion policy.

If confirmed as Chief of Naval Operations she will be the first woman to become a member of the elite group of senior military officers who make up the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

A 38-year veteran, she was only the second woman to achieve the rank of four-star admiral.

This Gujarat Building Beats Pentagon To Become World's Largest Office :

It is expected this building will be officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November this year. It took four years to complete its construction.
For 80 years, Pentagon was the world's largest office building. But that title has now been taken by a building in Gujarat's, Surat Diamond Bourse that will house a diamond trading centre, according to a CNN report. With over 7.1 million square feet of floor space, it is believed to surpass the Pentagon as the world's largest office building, according to a report in CNN. With its impressive 15-story complex spanning over 35 acres, the bourse features a unique design of nine interconnected rectangular structures emanating from a central "spine".

India's moon exploration mission, Chandrayaan-3, will position the country as the fourth nation to successfully land a spacecraft on the moon.
The Indian Space and Research Organization is going to launch the Chandrayaan-3 On 14th July 2023 @ 2:35 PM (Indian Standard Time). This mission primarily aims to land Rover and Lander on the South Pole of the Moon to make basic studies of the surface of the celestial body.

India beat Kuwait by 5-4 on penalties shootout to win record 9th title of SAFF Championship:

Sunil Chhetri's team defeated Kuwait in a thrilling final. A very exciting match was played between these two. In sudden death, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu gave India's 5-4 victory by stopping the penalty. The game had ended 1-1 after which the hosts prevailed 5-4 in a nail-biter of a penalty shootout.

India had earlier won the title in 1993, 1997, 1999, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2021.

Ace stock market investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, often referred to as India's own Warren Buffet passed away at the age of 62.

Jhunjhunwala was brought dead to the Mumbai hospital, Breach Candy Hospital CEO N Santhanam told to media.Jhunjhunwala was suffering from diabetes and a kidney ailment, a doctor said.

Lieutenant General Manoj Pande, First Engineer & Senior-Most in the Force, Appointed Indian Army Chief :

Army Vice Chief Lieutenant General Manoj Pande was on Monday appointed as the next chief of the Indian Army. He will assume office on May 1. He is the first officer from the Corps of Engineers to become the Chief of Army Staff. He will succeed General Manoj Mukund Naravane, who is scheduled to complete his 28 month-tenure on April 30.
"Government has decided to appoint Lieutenant General Manoj Pande as the next chief of army staff," the Defence officials told news agency ANI.

Yogi Adityanath was on Thursday unanimously chosen the leader of the Uttar Pradesh BJP legislature party and will take oath as the UP Chief Minister for the second time on Friday.
He met Governor Anandiben Patel to stake claim to form government in Uttar Pradesh. After dropping Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the airport, Adityanath went to the Raj Bhawan to meet the governor.

Petrol, diesel price up 80 paise a litre; Rs 50 hike in LPG rates:

Petrol and diesel prices on Tuesday were hiked by 80 paise a litre each while domestic cooking gas prices were increased by Rs 50 per cylinder, ending a over four and half month election-related hiatus in rate revision, according to reports.

While LPG rates were last revised on October 6, petrol and diesel prices had been on a freeze since November 4 ahead of the assembly elections in states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

Japan PM Fumio Kishida to announce investment of $42 billion or 3.2 lakh crore in India: Report

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is expected to announce an investment of 5 trillion yen or $42 billion over five years in India during his two-day visit to the country
As per media, Kishida, who will participate in the 14th annual India-Japan summit, will also agree to an approximately 300 billion yen loan during his meeting with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Saturday.

The Japan PM is also likely to sign an energy cooperation document concerning carbon reduction.

Sikh passengers and employees of airlines are allowed to carry kirpan on Indian aircraft flying within India from domestic terminals only. The length of the kirpan’s blade should not exceed 15.24 cms or 6 inches and the total length should be not more than 22.86 cms or 9 inches, as per Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

Royal Challengers Bangalore name Faf du Plessis as new captain:

Former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League 2022, the franchise announced here on Saturday.
Expressing his delight at being appointed as RCB captain, Faf du Plessis said, "The opportunity to be the captain of a franchise like RCB is massive and a role I was glad to accept. The work is just going to begin as we try to build off the success the team has enjoyed in previous years. 5 dead as Russia attacks TV tower in Ukraine capital Kyiv, signal disrupted:

At least five persons died and five others were wounded on Tuesday after Russian troops attacked the main television tower in the heart of the Ukraine's capital of Kyiv. The attack potentially disrupted the tower's signal, said Ukrainian interior ministry adviser Anton Herashchenko.

A blast was heard around Kyiv and smoke was seen rising in Babi Yar district, the interior ministry said, adding that equipment had been damaged and television channels “won't work for a while”.
