Rotary Club of Gangtok Inaugurates Bio-toilets at ATTC Bardang under District Grant No. DG 2459779

Gangtok, 14th August 2024 – In a commendable initiative aimed at bolstering sanitation and advancing environmental sustainability, the Rotary Club of Gangtok proudly announces the inauguration of a new set of bio-toilets at the ATTC Bardang Campus. This essential project, funded by Rotary International District 3240 Grant No. DG 2459779, is a critical response to the devastating floods that swept through the region last year, resulting in the loss of previously installed bio-toilets.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by esteemed guests including Sri Sonam Palden Barfungpa, Principal of ATTC Bardang, alongside members of the Rotary Club of Gangtok, faculty, and students. The occasion highlighted not only the advanced sanitation technology but also the unwavering commitment of Rotary to enhancing community welfare and environmental stewardship.

In the aftermath of the severe flooding on the River Teesta last year, the ATTC Bardang Campus experienced significant damage, including the complete washout of their toilets. The bio-toilets installed by Rotary Clun of Gangtok are designed to offer an eco-friendly solution to sanitation needs and to increase the campus’s hygiene infrastructure.
