District Magistrate Orders Closure of Gulli Motors Petrol Pump in Waripora, Sparking Public Outcry
Baramulla, In a surprising move, the District Magistrate of Baramulla has ordered the immediate closure of the DC point petrol pump under the name and style of Gul Motors, operated by Mohammad Ashraf Khan in Waripora Sopore. This decision, which was executed without prior notice to the proprietor, has caused significant concern among the local population, particularly transporters and farmers who rely heavily on this facility.
The petrol pump, strategically located on the Sopore-Bandipora road, serves thousands of people daily. It is a critical resource for transporters and farmers in the region, providing essential fuel services that support their livelihoods. The sudden cessation of operations at Gul Motors is expected to disrupt the daily activities of these groups, leading to widespread inconvenience and potential economic losses.
Local residents and stakeholders have expressed their frustration and disappointment over the lack of communication and transparency surrounding the closure. Many argue that the decision was made hastily and without considering the adverse effects on the community. “This petrol pump is a lifeline for us,” said a local transporter. “Without it, we will face severe difficulties in carrying out our daily work.”
Farmers in the area have also voiced their concerns, highlighting the importance of the petrol pump for their agricultural activities. “We depend on this petrol pump for fuel to run our machinery and transport our produce,” said a local farmer. “Its closure will severely impact our productivity and income.”
The District Magistrate’s office has yet to provide a detailed explanation for the closure. However, sources suggest that the decision may be linked to regulatory or compliance issues. Despite this, the abrupt nature of the order has left many questioning the fairness and rationale behind it.
