Ganderbal, June 02 (KNO): The district administration Ganderbal Thursday said that the annual Mela of Kheerbhawani will be observed with great religious fervour and enthusiasm.

Talking to reporters at Ganderbal, the Deputy Commissioner of the district Shayambir said that some social media reports suggesting cancellation of Mela Kheerbhawani are totally baseless as the district administration has already erected tents and lighting arrangements are being put in place. “The annual Mela will be celebrated with great religious fervour on June 8," he said as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

He urged Kashmiri Pandits to participate in the annual festival in large numbers. Present on the occasion, SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar said that elaborate security arrangements are in place for smooth Kheerbhawani Mela on June 8.

He said night and day patrolling has been started besides highest alertness is being maintained at all levels

Ganderbal,June 1,Health Centre, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) in collaboration with ASG Hospital, Qamarwari organized a free eye check camp for the students, scholars and the staff of the varsity at Green Campus here on Wednesday.

As many as 150 students, scholars and staff members attended the camp, which was inaugurated by Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar. ASG Hospital Optometrist, Mr. Irfan Ahmad, Refractionist, Mr Adil Rashid and AR Technician, Mr. Haroon Ahmad and staff members of CUK including Dr. Sheeba, Mr. Javaid Khan and Mr. Javaid Ahmad Rather were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Zargar said the camp was organized for the welfare of the students and staff and more such health camps would be organized in future. The CUK health center staff thanked the ‘ASG hospital’ for organizing the free eye check camp.

CUK VC reviews progress on NEP-2020 implementation

Ganderbal, May 31: To review the status of the implementation of National Educational Policy-2020 (NEP), teaching learning activities, examinations, and ongoing admission process through the Central University Entrance Test 2022, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah chaired a meeting of all the Deans of Schools, Heads and Coordinators of the department here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah underscored the need of organising workshops on NEP for sensitisation and awareness of the faculty members so that the Policy would be implemented from the ensuing academic session. “The primary objective of the NEP is to move from teacher centric to student centric, information centric to knowledge centric, marks centric to skills centric, examination centric to experimental centric, learning centric to research centric, and choice centric to competency centric,” he said, adding, the Policy emphasizes “Equitable access to the highest quality education for all learners regardless of social or economic background.”
Responding to the presentations made by all the Deans, Heads and Coordinators on their roadmap for implementation of the NEP in their respective programmes, Prof. Shah said the varsity has already constituted an NEP-2020 implementation committee and asked its members to implement the policy in letter and spirit. CUK Vice Chancellor, expressed satisfaction over the teaching learning activities conducted by all the departments and asked the faculty members to ensure that the syllabi of the students are covered within the stipulated time frame so that examinations are held on time. Prof. Shah said the university is receiving an overwhelming response from the students during the ongoing admission process.
Addressing the gathering, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, who was flanked by the Controller of Examinations, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir and Finance Officer, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, said, the NEP-2020 implementation committee has already chalked out a map for the teaching departments for starting the holistic and multidisciplinary education in a phased manner. He said holistic and multidisciplinary education would aim to develop capacities of human beings -intellectual, aesthetic, social, physical, emotional, and moral in an integrated manner. Prof. Zargar asked the teaching departments to get the requisite approvals from the School Boards and Boards of Studies, before the policy is implemented, in respective departments.

*DLSA Ganderbal celebrated International Labour Day, conducted Webinar*

Ganderbal, May 28: The District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal conducted webinar on “International Labour Day” today on 28th of May 2022. The webinar was held under the directions & guidance of “Ms. Tabasum” Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal.

The Webinar was attended by Assistant Labour Commissioner Ganderbal, Officials of District Legal Services Authority, Panel Lawyers, PLVs & Law Students from Central University of Kashmir. The proceedings of programme was moderated by Advocate Sabrina Fayaz, Advocate Sheikh Imran was the Key note Speaker and Assistant Labour Commissioner Ganderbal was the Guest Speaker in the seminar.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Labour Commissioner Ganderbal said that 1st May is celebrated as International Labour Day all over the world. This is a day that marks the importance of labour in this world and assures the dignity of work for every profession. The day recognizes the labourer’s contribution and impresses upon us the need to respect and honour them.

He said that Labour law is concerned with the establishment of a labour-relations framework that provides peaceful industrial relations between labours and organized workers. He enunciated the participants about different Acts and schemes under Building and construction Workers Act.

Advocate Sheikh Imran while speaking on the occasion said that Labour Day is celebrated in the Country on Ist May every year. The objective of celebrating this day is to spread awareness about the rights and opportunities of every labour which they should get for their welfare and betterment. He elaborated various Labour Laws, he stated that it is the area of law which signifies the relationship between a worker, trade union and government at large. It plays a major important role in protecting the rights of labour, their union, their wages, and moreover building a link between government and workers.

He further added information regarding different laws like Minimum Wages Act, Gratuity Act, Payment of Wages Act and other allied acts.
