AASU General Secretary Sankor Jyoti Baruah Unveils Another Secret Plot by Oil India Limited

Baruah claims this process is designed to favor non-Assamese candidates over qualified Assamese applicants.

The post highlights that this interview, scheduled for tomorrow in Delhi, has been arranged with the intent of excluding local candidates. Baruah condemns this alleged anti-Assamese conspiracy, accusing a certain faction within OIL of consistently engaging in such discriminatory practices.

Sankor Jyoti Baruah warns that OIL should brace itself for intense protests if a deserving Assamese candidate is overlooked for the residential chief officer position. He emphasizes that the AASU will not tolerate any attempts to marginalize Assamese candidates and is prepared to take strong action if necessary.

**North-East India Forum of Green Studies Leads Environmental Awareness Initiative on World Environment Day 2024**

Duliajan, 6th June 2024 – In a commendable effort to promote environmental consciousness, the North-East India Forum of Green Studies, under the aegis of the Department of English, Duliajan College, organized a comprehensive awareness programme to mark World Environment Day 2024. The event focused primarily on raising awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastic.

# # # Phase One: Memorandum Submission for Plastic-Free Zone

The first phase of the campaign kicked off on 31st May 2024 with a memorandum seeking the declaration of Oil India Market as a plastic-free zone. This crucial document was submitted to the administrative officials of Oil India Limited by a coalition of the Forum, the Students' Union of Duliajan College, and officials of Zaloni Ladies Club. The initiative underscored the urgent need to mitigate plastic pollution in the area.

# # # Phase Two: Bicycle Rally Promoting "Beat Plastic Pollution: Restore Ecosystem"

Continuing the momentum, a vibrant bicycle rally was organized on 5th June, carrying the powerful message "Beat Plastic Pollution: Restore Ecosystem." This rally received robust support from WIPS OIL Cell, Duliajan, Zaloni Ladies Club, the College Students’ Union, the NSS Unit of Duliajan College, and Duliajan College Alumni, reflecting the community's unified stance against plastic pollution. Enthusiastic participants from various walks of life joined the rally, showcasing their commitment to the cause.

Hosted by Mr. Gaurab Sengupta, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, the programme began with the felicitation of esteemed guests including the Principal of Duliajan College, Dr. Lok Bikash Gogoi, Dr. Monprotiv Barooah, Chief Medical Officer of Oil India Limited, and officials from WIPS OIL Cell and Zaloni Ladies Club.

In their addresses, Dr. Gogoi, Dr. Barooah, and Ms. Jyoti Singh Pathak, HOD and Vice-Principal, emphasized the critical need to reduce single-use plastics due to their severe impacts on the ecosystem and human health. Ms. Farahdiva Samsul Haque, President of WIPS Cell, also contributed by gifting fruit saplings to the Forum, highlighting the importance of nurturing them for sustainable growth.

The rally, flagged off by Principal Dr. Gogoi and Dr. Barooah, concluded with refreshments generously sponsored by WIPS OIL Cell, Duliajan. The event saw significant contributions from faculty members, including Ms. Pinky Sharma Saikia, Ms. Nirupama Dey, and Ms. Rajashree Boruah, Assistant Professors in the Department of English, ensuring its success and impactful completion.

**Duliajan Yuvak Sangha Celebrates World Environment Day**

*Duliajan, June 5* – The Duliajan Yuvak Sangha celebrated World Environment Day today at the Duliajan Adarsha Balika Vidyapith. The event began with the ceremonial planting of Bakul trees within the school premises by distinguished guests, underscoring a commitment to environmental sustainability.

Following the tree planting, a meeting was convened in the school auditorium. Shankarjyoti Baruah, Jayanta Bormudoi, and environmental activist and journalist Jayanta Bhuyan addressed the gathering. Baruah announced AASU’s plans to construct a memorial at the school and provide book sets to the students, furthering the organization’s educational initiatives.

The event, coordinated by teachers Asha Gogoi and Aditya Phukan, was supported by educators Afruja Akhtar, Bonita Talukdar, Jyotishree Saikia, Asha Gogoi, Suniti Hazarika, Bhagya Shree Saikia, Paramita Devi, and Pranjit Pratim Bhuyan.

🎉 Celebrating 23 Years of Excellence in Computer Education! 🎉

Talent Computer Education marked its 23rd Annual Day Celebration at the Oil Market Talent Computer Education Centre with great enthusiasm. The event was graced by the presence of the institution head, Madan Deka, who cut the cake amidst students from all around Duliajan.

Founded on 30th May 2001 at Oil Market, Talent Computer Education has grown significantly over the years, opening new branches at Saikia Market, Duliajan, and Bhadoi Panchali. The centre has successfully passed out nearly 15,000 students, making a significant impact on computer education in the region.
