DDCC president alleges voter slip mismanagement, calls for law enforcement action
The president of Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) Kutuho Chishi, alleges that some GBs and council members are not distributing the voter slip to the colony members but keeping to themselves, and thus appealed law enforcement authority to check that the concerned colony GBs and council members distribute the slips. Chishi made these remarks during the media interaction programme under the theme “Know your candidates” organised by DDCC where the INC candidates for ULB election from three districts – Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland, were also present.
A scuffle broke out between supporters of two parties on Thursday night at the residence of Nikali Sumi Chophi, NPP candidate for Ward-7 under DMC.
Clarification from the council members, Netaji colony
N Lasuh, GB of Netaji colony stated that the council members of the colony have taken a decision that no party will be allowed to campaign with huge crowds which may disrupt the peace of the colony.
The GB said that Congress candidate Khrozote Kapfo, along with 10-15 youths were going for a door-to-door campaign and, since most of the residents of Netaji colony are non-Nagas, ‘they got scared and felt threatened’ with the many youths outside their houses. So, after receiving this information, the council members decided to go and stop the campaigners.
Congress candidate for the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) from Ward 8, Dimapur, Khrozote Kapfo, has alleged that the council members and GBs of Netaji colony prevented him from undertaking door-to-door campaign on Wednesday, June 19 at around 2:00 pm.

NSF calls for indigenous representation in ULB elections
The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), has once again on June 12 appealed to the people of Nagaland with a call for exclusive indigenous representation in the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections.
A press conference was addressed by Mteisuding, vice president NSF with Chumben Khuvung, general secretary NSF, Pithungo Sh*tio, secretary publicity & information, NSF and Kaisu Chakre, secretary social and culture NSF at its office, Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima.
The officials emphasised the need to ensure that the voices and aspirations of the indigenous Naga populace are authentically represented in all decision-making processes in municipal and town councils.
It maintained that the federation advocates for ‘Nagas by blood, not by adoption,’ as they reiterated the appeal made on June 11.
Chümoukedima and Kohima win state level Pre-Subroto-cum-Junior Football Tournament
The Chümoukedima team and Kohima team emerged as the winners of the Boys Under-15 (U-15) and Girls Under-17 (U-17) categories, respectively in the finale of the first state level Pre-Subroto-cum-Junior Football Tournament on June 11.
The week-long sporting event, organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS) in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) began on June 5 at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) in Kohima.
NDPP media cell secretary resigns, joins Congress; to contest ULB election
Secretary of media cell, NDPP (Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party), Khrozote Kapfo, resigns and joins Congress party to contest in the forthcoming ULB election in Congress ticket after he was denied party ticket.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur, Kapfo claimed that he is also among the founding members of NDPP in the state. He maintains that he has been loyal to the party in hopes that he will also someday contest in the municipal election under NDPP ticket.
He asserted that the party had promised to give him a party ticket but in the ‘zero-hour’ while distributing the party ticket, he was denied. So he resigned from NDPP and since he started his political career in Congress, he decided to join congress and contest in the ULB election from Ward 8 under Dimapur I.
ULB elections: 18 candidates issued BJP party tickets
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) issued ULB tickets to 18 candidates from Chümoukedima and Niuland district on Monday at BJP Ghaspani-I mandal, Chümoukedima.
Jacob Zhimomi, Minister for PHED and Cooperation, speaking after the ticket distribution mentioned that the key areas BJP will be focusing is to explore the minds of the people and their basic requirements in town and urban areas, and that the basic necessities will be taken up on priority basis.
NPP issues party tickets to 11 candidates
The National People’s Party (NPP) on June 10 issued party tickets to 11 intending candidates, including six female candidates contesting from both reserved and unreserved wards of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC).
The ticket distribution ceremony was held at NPP Nagaland working president and present MLA, 9th Kohima Town A/C Dr Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso's residence in Kohima.
Besides the KMC, the NPP plans to participate in other councils like Wokha town, Chümoukedima town, Pfutsero town and Dimapur Municipal Council.
