PIMLA MURDER: DC PEREN SITS WITH ZELIANGRONG ORG & CSOs, LEADERS SEEK JUSTICE.

12/04/2025

Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) has raised concerns over the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025, especially the rule that allows non-Muslims to be part of the Waqf Board. At a press meet, MCD leader Ahidur Rehman said non-Muslims may not understand the religious importance of Waqf, which is an Islamic charity system. He said that while Nagaland has no Waqf properties, Muslims in the state support others across India. Rehman welcomed transparency and women’s involvement but felt non-Muslim members are not suitable. He hopes the Supreme Court, hearing the case on April 16, will ensure justice.

MLA Raises Concerns Over Police Check Posts in

MLA Naiba Konyak has raised serious concerns over the functioning of police check posts in Dimapur, particularly regarding vehicle entry data and traffic congestion. He questioned the department’s provision of average vehicle entries instead of detailed daily records, calling it a lack of transparency. Konyak highlighted severe traffic jams at check posts, especially due to trucks arriving from Assam, and noted that although no official tax is claimed, truck owners report paying Rs 150–Rs 200 at check posts.
