The Swadhinata Sangram of Bharat saw countless women rise against colonial oppression, yet many of their stories remain untold. Among them is the inspiring tale of Rani Ropuiliani, the brave Chief of the Lushai Hills (Mizoram), who stood firm against British incursions.

At the age of 86, Ropuiliani led her people in a bold resistance against British attempts to annex the Lushai Hills. She encouraged her community to disobey unjust colonial taxes and rejected British authority outright. Her leadership galvanized hundreds, especially women, in a united front to protect their homeland.

Her defiance came at a great cost. Captured by the British, she was imprisoned for two years and passed away on January 3, 1895, in Chittagong jail. Yet her courage and patriotism remain etched in the history of Mizoram and Indiaโ€™s freedom struggle.

On her 130th death anniversary, we honor the indomitable spirit of Rani Ropuilianiโ€”a true symbol of resistance and a shining inspiration for Bharat.

Today, December 31st, we celebrate the establishment of the ๐ƒ๐จ๐ง๐ฒ๐ข-๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ Yelam Kebang in 1986โ€”an occasion that has become the annual ๐ƒ๐จ๐ง๐ฒ๐ข-๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ Day.

On this day, traditional rituals are performed, and heartfelt prayers are offered to the Sun (Donyi) and Moon (Polo), revered as divine entities. This celebration not only honors these celestial guardians but also showcases the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh, deepening our connection to ancestral beliefs.

Have you ever wondered why the Sun and Moon are vital for life on Earth?

๐ŸŒž Sun: The provider of light, heat, and energy, essential for photosynthesis, which sustains life on Earth. It governs our climate, seasons, and day-night cycles, shaping our natural world.
๐ŸŒ• Moon: Its gravitational pull stabilizes Earthโ€™s tilt, influencing weather and tides, which are crucial for marine ecosystems. For centuries, its glow has guided human navigation and inspired cultural traditions.

Together, they sustain life and balance Earthโ€™s natural systemsโ€”a reminder of why our ancestors honored them as life-sustaining forces.

Let us celebrate ๐ƒ๐จ๐ง๐ฒ๐ข-๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ Diwas with gratitude, reverence, and pride in our shared heritage.
