A new scam on Facebook groups is targeting jobless men in rural India with an offer: “sex with affluent women, a share in property, and a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh” — all for getting someone pregnant within three months.

The scam, disguised as a "pregnancy job" opportunity, asks men to pay a registration fee of Rs 999, promising large payouts even if conception doesn’t occur. The criminals behind this scam further prey on victims by demanding additional money for fake fees, leaving many out of pocket. Desperate job seekers, like a 51-year-old herbal product dealer and a young driver from Madhya Pradesh, have lost thousands in the scam.

These scams have spread quickly, with over 28,000 members across multiple Facebook groups offering "pregnancy service jobs"—some using fake profiles and staged videos to lure people in. In a similar case uncovered in Bihar, police arrested a group running a call centre that scammed hundreds of people. Despite arrests, scammers are undeterred, creating new groups and posting videos claiming to be from rich women seeking “a man to help me become a mother.”

In a shocking turn of events, a space rocket program manager has been arrested for the brutal murder of her father with an ice axe, allegedly following Donald Trump’s election victory. Corey Burke, a 33-year-old employee at Blue Origin, allegedly killed her 67-year-old father, Timothy Burke, on Election Night following a heated argument. The gruesome attack, involving strangulation, biting, and multiple blows with an ice axe, occurred in their Seattle home.

Corey Burke reportedly believed the act was a form of "liberation" and was motivated by her distress over the election results.

An already agitated Burke reportedly snapped when her dad, Timothy Burke, refused to switch the lights off.

Burke then walked upstairs to get an ice "pickaxe," before tripping her father, biting and strangling him on the floor, and repeatedly beating him with the tool's blunt and pointed edges, according to police. Cops found Burke "clapping … because she was so happy."

Burke told detectives that her relationship with her father had been difficult, and there were no clear "boundaries," leaving her feeling "hyperfocused and disorganised." She claimed Trump's triumph "overwhelmed" her and pushed her to the breaking point.

Ahead of his highly anticipated Dil-Luminati concert in Hyderabad, Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has been served a notice by Telangana authorities, warning him not to perform songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence. The notice was issued after a complaint from Panditrao Dharenavar, a Chandigarh resident advocating for the promotion of the Punjabi language, who filed a representation urging the authorities to intervene. The notice, which refers to Dosanjh's previous performances, cites a few songs which allegedly promote substance abuse and violence.

The notice, issued by the Telangana women and child development department, also raises concerns about the safety of children attending the concert. It states that, “concert guidelines say that children are allowed below 13 years of age… loud music and flashing lights are harmful for children." The authorities have warned Dosanjh and his organisers not to involve children on stage and to refrain from singing any songs promoting harmful behaviours.

A Japanese lawmaker, Naoki Hyakuta, is facing fierce backlash after making a shocking proposal to combat Japan's declining birthrate. In a recent YouTube video, Hyakuta suggested that women over 30 should have their uteruses removed and be banned from marrying after 25 in order to encourage early childbirth. He even proposed restricting access to university education for women, arguing that these measures would help reverse Japan's demographic crisis.

The highly controversial comments were quickly condemned as misogynistic and extreme, with many calling them a "science-fiction storyline" rather than a viable solution.

Hyakuta later apologised, clarifying that his remarks were intended as a provocative discussion starter on Japan's ageing population, not a literal policy proposal. However, his comments have sparked outrage across the country, especially given Japan’s ongoing struggle with a shrinking workforce and falling birthrate.

In a special drive, Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) took strict action against e-commerce delivery personnel, registering nearly 6,000 cases for traffic violations. The police collected a total of Rs 30.57 lakh in fines for 5,979 violations across more than 12 categories, including no parking, riding without helmets, and entering no-entry zones.

The highest number of violations were for pillion riders not wearing helmets (2,304 cases), followed by improper parking (1,260 cases) and riding in no-entry zones (671 cases). Other violations included jumping traffic signals and riding against one-way streets.

The drive also targeted e-bikes used for short deliveries, which were booked for riding on footpaths, parking in restricted areas, and violating other traffic rules.

The Supreme Court of India has issued directions regarding property demolitions, ensuring stricter guidelines for the process. On Wednesday, the court ruled that no demolition can occur without a 15-day prior notice to the property owner, served via registered post and displayed on the structure. The notice must detail the unauthorised construction and the specific violations, and the demolition must be videographed to ensure transparency. "Rule of law mandates against arbitrary action. Violations can promote lawlessness, and the protection of civil rights is essential for protecting constitutional democracy," said a bench of Justices BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan.

The court stressed that the executive cannot replace the judiciary in this process, emphasising that demolitions should not occur without following due legal procedure.

The court highlighted that demolitions should only occur when absolutely necessary, and the authorities must demonstrate that no other recourse is available. The court also expressed concern over the use of demolitions as extra-legal punishment, which disproportionately affects minority communities. As part of the ruling, all demolition notices must be uploaded to municipal portals, and district magistrates will be accountable for ensuring compliance. The court further clarified that demolitions of unauthorised religious structures on roads, including temples and mosques, will not be exempt from this order.
